The real beauty of this tour is the efficient use it makes of your holiday/vacation time. On first inspection, it may appear quicker to take the train. While the train is a great option for some, by the time you have caught a taxi, hauled your luggage to the correct platform at the station, and done the same again at the other end, you have spent nearly a full day travelling, missing out on historic sites such as Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, the wild Scottish border country or the other wonderful sites and landscapes we travel through along the way.

Yorkshire
Heading up North with a midmorning break in the Yorkshire Dales National Park OR just over the county border in the historied and important English county of Durham.
We then head into some of the wildest and most starkly beautiful terrain & landscape England has to offer, before arriving at Hadrian’s Wall, OR we may explore the wonderful Northumberland coastline and its tiny coastal villages and mighty castles or we can divert via the Lake District National Park. It's a private tour and I am happy to discuss the best options when I meet you on the morning of travel. The decision is primarily based on your preference and weather, there are often big differences in weather on the West and East coast sides of the United Kingdom that should always be factored in for the very best day together.

In a most positive way, this was a super long way filled with some amazing scenery and a great guide who is also the owner of his company. Andrew was simply amazing, and he kept our attention all day long, making sure that we were comfortable enough. He also brought various snacks and had water on board, plus the ride in the Mercedes V class that he owns, made us sure we were super comfortable. His tours are not scripted, and he provides a lot of insight. In short, we saw the following, Yorkshire Dales National Park, the site where All Creatures Great and Small was filmed, Bolton Castle wehere we stopped for coffee, The Bowes Museum, County Durham, Twice Brewed village where we had a lunch stop, next we saw Hadrian’s Wall, and we passed through Northumberland National Park, the most popular border area between England and Scotland. A day filled with great moments, stunning natural scenery, and amazing stories. This is the kind of day you remember for a lifetime. Thank you, Andrew, for showing us some of the best parts of Northern England.

During our recent two-week trip to the UK, my son and I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing touring with both Andrew and Richard of Expedition Yorkshire. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this tour company, which is by far the best I have ever encountered. The guides are kind, dedicated, and hard-working—and will do absolutely everything in their power to guarantee that your day is as delightful as possible. We saw beautiful landscapes and truly amazing sites, and the company was wonderful too. Every aspect of my experience with Expedition Yorkshire was positive—from swift and friendly responses to emails that were chock full of questions, to the incredible care and dedication with which every request was met on the day of (with some lovely “bonus” stops added in as well). Do yourself a favor and include a day away from the crowds of York with Expedition Yorkshire—I bet it will be the highlight of your trip, as it was of ours!

My husband and I decided we wanted to see more of Nothern England and visit some sights we wouldn't normally see by train, so we booked a transfer tour from York to Edinburgh. Andrew was so accommodating. We sent him an itinerary of things we wanted to see, but told him, it was totally up to him, since he knew the area and could manage the timeline way better than us. Truthfully, if we went to everything we wanted to see, we would have taken 3 days! Since we just had the one, we trusted Andrew to guide us to the right places, and he was amazing! We were picked up, right at our hotel in York at 9am, then we drove for about an hour out of the city to our first stop at Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, where we also got to see the actual Castle from afar, which was a nice surprise. We continued on to Chester's Roman Fort Hadrian's Wall. My husband and I got out to explore the remnants for about an hour and it was absolutely amazing! We then drove on to Alnwick Castle where we took a moment for some pictures and then drove on to a great lunch stop, recommended by Andrew, in the Seahouses, Lewis's Fish Restaurant! Fabulous! Our final stop was Bamburgh Castle. We got out to walk along the beach and get great pictures of the castle. Because we are bird people, Andrew had us stop at the Budle Bay Bird Sanctuary! We were very happy with that stop. We were happy with all of the stops! Andrew is a wealth of information, and we loved talking to him. He provided us so much more than we anticipated! He even let us stop to take a picture of the "Welcome to Scotland" sign as we crossed the border. We were dropped off right at our hotel and it was perfect! I can't recommend Expedition Yorkshire enough. I wish we had used them for other tours during our stay as well. But we will definitely use them again next time!

My friends, husband and I loved our tour from York to Edinburgh. Andrew, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and fun. He took us to interesting and unique places like the castle where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned. He filled us in on the history while we took in the beautiful views. Andrew treated us to the most delicious snacks- some amazing Scottish tea cakes, candies, crisps and drinks. The drive through the Yorkshire Dales had me imagining James Herriot riding along side us on his way to birthing a calf. I enjoyed those books. The highlight of our trip was a short hike up to Hadrian’s Wall. It was grand to stretch our legs and walk in the same steps as the Romans along the wall. All of our stops were special and worth the visit. Andrew filled us with local history, culture and stories for over 10 hours which is why I’d highly recommend this tour.

We booked our transfer tour with Andrew from York to Edinburgh. Our trip was fabulous from beginning to end. He was prompt with his pick up, a most careful driver, very courteous & and most attentive to the needs of our group. We didn’t have a set itinerary of things to do and see, we left all of those plans in his capable hands. We saw Bordon Castle, national parks, climbed Hadrian’s wall and much more. With plenty of snacks, rest stops & an awesome Sunday roast lunch in between. He is very knowledgeable and made our journey most enjoyable.

This was a last minute decision by us to try and gain a day of sightseeing and ended up a highlight of our trip. Andrew showed us areas that we would never have seen, from beautiful dales, to majestic mountain passes. He knew the area inside and out and was more than happy to adjust to suit what worked for us (such as an impromptu stop for a snowball fight for our youngest who had never seen snow!) His van was incredibly comfortable and provided snacks for everyone too. As well, the sheer ease of being collected and dropped off directly at your next stay was well worth it. Highly recommend!
