Food is undoubtedly one of Lyon's most beloved traditions. Since 1935, the city has been considered the world capital of gastronomy. When Lyon's culinary traditions were being forged, the famous "Mères Lyonnaises" (Lyonnaise Mothers) managed to turn Lyon cuisine into an institution. Today, male chefs dominate the scene, like the famous Paul Bocuse, however it is the women who evolved the renowned cuisine. Many of the recipes around the city are unchanged from their humble beginnings, meaning you'll have the opportunity to taste the culture and history that has turned Lyon into the culinary hub it is today. We'll guide you through this gastronomic journey infused with passion, history, and exquisite French food and wine. Find out why eating and drinking are not just a pastime in Lyon, but a way of life.

This tour was excellent. Anna was a very informative and friendly guide who taught us so much about Lyon. The food was excellent and plentiful and we definitely decided to return and buy from some of the businesses. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour

Anna was the most amazing guide ever! I originally thought we’d have only a foodie experience but she was super knowledgeable about Lyon and gave us amazing insights in history in a very light manner, without it being tiresome. She was also very kind to us and made sure all the food restrictions were respected without it altering the quality of the food for those who needed something a bit different. The food we tried was fantastic, and a great opportunity to taste multiple local dishes without needed many days and meals to do so. Definitely recommend this tour for those who will visit Lyon in the future.

The tour was even better than advertised, with the set stops providing a range of cheese/cured meats, a full meal, and some sweets the round out the day. Ashe was knowledgeable in the city, street artists, & most importantly the regional wines & food. My only regret was not booking the tour earlier in my stay as there were several coffee shops, roof top bars, and other restaurants suggested, that were not on the tour route, which I did not have time to explore / enjoy.

Come hungry/skip breakfast!! I made the mistake of eating a large breakfast that morning and I regretted it because our guide Ash took us to some amazing places with amazing food and I wish I was hungrier so I could have eaten more of it. This was a great tour in a beautiful and historic part of a lively and interesting city. Multiple food stops including a lovely sit-down lunch in a lyonnaise bouchon and delicious chocolates and other treats (the prauline is one of the best things I have ever eaten). Great guide and a lovely way to spend an afternoon in Lyon.

Oliver gave us a real taste of Lyon food culture - and a nice overview of how it developed. We had a great tour round with him - sampled several delicacies and got a lot of background information about the city and it's history at the same time - well worth doing.

Pros: our tour guide Oliver was awesome! Super knowledgeable about Lyon and its history, and a great sense of humor. He brought us to some super cute places with an excellent assortment, especially the chocolate place. Cons: traditional Lyon food may not be what most people expect when they think of French food. It’s not the “wow” kind of flavors packed with rich complex layers. It’s just kind of okay. Maybe some people will like it, but it’s not what we were expecting of a world renown gastronomic hub
