Over 3 hours, the Mahabalipuram walking tour will teleport you to the 7th century incredible rock cut monuments. It is hosted by a company approved by the ministry of tourism and is a member of Indian Tour Operators Association.
This tour can be done by walk or in your vehicle. We can also arrange a tuk tuk or autorickshaw.
You will experience masterpieces from this world heritage site like the Pancha Rathas which are rock cut monolith temples, Arjuna's Penance the giant open air rock relief, the gravity defying Krishna's butterball and the Shore temple which is the last remaining of the 7 Pagodas mentioned by Marco Polo.
Mahabalipuram is the proud recipient of world's first stone carving city declaration. However, the next generation of sculptors are moving to the cities for jobs threatening a slow death for this fine art. Our company is helping this community by training & employing local guides and by procuring their wares to strengthen their livelihood.

Amazing walking experience with Ramesh. He was kind, knowledgeable beyond compare, and well paced. He tailored the tour to our interests and have detailed explanations of the mythology and even went on several interesting tangents with us. Don’t miss it. He even ended at his friend the stone carver, who is upholding the 1000 year legacy of craftspersonship in Mahaballipuram.

Visiting from Scotland. Easy on line booking experience. Our guide Ramesh was prompt and called in advance to confirm meeting place and time. All tickets entries were taken care of. Ramesh outlined what we would be doing and checked with us in terms of walking distance and provided options. Very knowledgeable. He also made sure we had some time to walk and take pictures at each site before moving on. All in all a really enjoyable and enlightening experience. We were ready for a rest and an ice cream at the end though!

Absolutely superb walking tour around the numerous Mahabs temples with Gopal as our local guide. His excellent knowledge and explanations from Hindu mythology brought everything we saw into vivid life, as we walked through this stunning place. Couldn’t have a better guide and walking tour, this is definitely a 6 star experience.
