Join us and discover a more local side of Comuna 13 in the residential neighborhood of La Pradera, a part of Medellín that still feels authentic and lived-in, away from the busiest tourist paths. We keep our groups small so the experience stays personal and relaxed. We meet at the exit of Juan XXIII Metrocable station, which you can reach by taking the cable car from San Javier while enjoying incredible views over Medellín. From there, we take a short walk through La Pradera, a neighborhood that has transformed significantly in recent years and is now a peaceful and welcoming place to experience everyday local life. After the walk, we'll arrive at our little workshop, where a local chef will guide you step by step in making one of Colombia’s most iconic street foods: the empanada. You’ll prepare everything from scratch—shaping the dough, making the fillings, and learning traditional sauces—so you can easily recreate them at home after your trip. To finish, we’ll sit down together to enjoy the empanadas you’ve made, paired with a refreshing drink, and take in views of Medellín while sharing stories about food, culture, and daily life in Colombia.

Me and my boyfriend are traveling through Colombia and ate a lot of Empanadas so ofcourse we had to learn it ourselfs to be able to make it at home. So happy we booked this class! Our chef Jheams picked us up on time and took us to a little local store where we bought the last ingredients. His presence was so lovely and with humor and patience he teached us how to make Cartagena style Empanadas, which we enjoyed afterwards with a beautiful view! Highly recommend!

Authentic local experience from shopping for ingredients while walking through the neighborhood to preparing ingredients as is done in a household to sitting on the balcony overlooking the metro Medellin valley eating what was made, this adventure felt like being part of the community, even if only for a short time. Most instruction and conversation was in Spanish though there were two assistants that were available with fluent English skills to translate. Great to have the opportunity to share with others (locals experiencing this adventure and some who had lived elsewhere) all in a convivial atmosphere. This is a new venture with a small group - with the quality of the experience and super attitude of the hosts this will surely blossom into a not to miss experience. Two thumbs up!!!

We had a super nice experience here. It felt very local and authentic. Making the food was very hands-on, and the empanadas were delicious. The place also has a great view, which made everything even better. We had a great time and definitely recommend it.
