On this boat tour we hike up the Mamangua Sugarloaf peak for the best views in the region. After meeting the English speaking guide on the pier in Paraty we take a fastboat to Mamangua, Brazil's tropical fjord. From Cruzeiro beach we start the steep hike up the Mamangua Sugarloaf peak. It takes about 1 hour 20 minutes to hike up. After hiking down there is time for swimming, relaxing and lunch (not included in price) on Cruzeiro beach. We return to Paraty by fastboat with time for a quick swim at a beach or island on the way!

This was a truly memorable and unique experience with Paddy! The tour to Mamanguá via Sugarloaf was both charming and adventurous — a hidden gem accessible only by boat, which made it feel even more special. The hike was definitely strenuous, but completely worth it for the breathtaking, panoramic views at the top. Every step was rewarded with natural beauty. After the hike, we enjoyed a delicious and authentic fish lunch that really hit the spot. Highly recommended for nature lovers and those looking for a more off-the-beaten-path adventure!

Rodrigo our guide was very knowledgeable and amiable. He also set a good pace for getting us up a steep short hike. It took us an hour to get up. It star ted raining towards the end so we only got a quick view before it became foggy. Later we stopped at a barraca where we had great grilled fish.

Great experience! The trail is beautiful and very steep in some parts, there are several signs and a restaurant on the beach. If you go without a guide: it's a good idea to arrange the round-trip boat in advance. I went by boat from Paraty Mirim, after taking a bus there, where there is parking for cars too. And then I hitchhiked back. Children: I saw about 3 parents with small children on their shoulders. It was drizzling and slippery, and less easy than 2 they predicted, the third didn't respond to me due to being out of breath. But children on shoulders looked happy... If you are not experienced on trails, or are traveling with people with special needs, it is best to look for agencies in the surrounding area, as they are professionals trained in first aid. Respect the local culture and workers and enjoy the trails!

The view is simply spellbinding. Don’t miss this treck, the 360 view of the bay is worth every uphill step you take and the guide is brilliant. Possibly the most beautiful sight I have ever seen.

Michael was a great guide and the views at the top of the peak were incredible! The hike itself was pretty steep but manageable, well worth it. It was also nice to get a little more off the beaten path. A wonderful day!

A full day of fun and adventure! From Paraty Tours it was a short walk through the historic district to the boat. A scenic 25 minute boat ride later and you’re at the beginning of the hike. 425 meters higher and you’re at the summit of Pau de Acuicar. Incredible views of the Fiord of Paraty! Luan, our guide, made sure everyone was safe on the hike and pointed out numerous jungle plants and their uses. Paraty Tours said Luan spoke a little English- his English was very good and by the end of the day, five of the seven hikers (all Brazilian) were speaking English to me. At the end of the hike we stopped at a beach restaurant for lunch and the boat stopped at a cove on the ride back for a short swimming/snorkeling stop, for those who interested. More great scenery for those who weren’t. It’s advertised as “a difficult hike” but it’s totally doable and well worth the effort.

I had the pleasure of participating in an excursion to the Peak of the Sugar Bread - Mamanguá with the Paraty Explorer. Michael is a great guide and professional, sharing historical, cultural and environmental knowledge throughout the tour. The Paseo was made with a boatboat departing from the Cais de Paraty (Centro) towards the Saco do Mamanguá, followed by a walk along the beach before making the main trail to reach the peak. The trail through the Atlantic Forest and views are amazing and the boat ride to get there is definitely worth it!!

Amazing experience of hiking in the bag of the mamanguá, the view from the peak of the sugar bread is wonderful and offers a unique perspective that ordinary boat trips do not offer. My guide was Michael, extremely attentive, polite and experienced.
