5.00We are a family of four with two teenagers and we all really enjoyed the tour. We booked before we realised that there was a protest march happening in the city centre, but Gareth managed the situation really professionally and adapted the route accordingly. We learn so much about the city and there was something for everyone, with lots of humour along the way. It was a great way to spend an afternoon in Manchester and we would highly recommend this tour.

5.00I just finished the free tour with Ivo in the centre of Manchester and, honestly, it was one of the best experiences I have had in years of travel. If you are looking for a way to understand this city beyond the red brick buildings, this tour is mandatory. From minute one, Ivo (a true passion of his city) welcomed us with incredible sympathy and his dog Sausage. It has that spark necessary to keep a group of 20 people hooked under the grey Manchester sky. He didn’t just drop manual data; he spoke to us like a friend who tells you the secrets of his neighborhood, always with a smile and a sharp British sense of humor. What impressed me most was the level of detail. Not only do we review the importance of the Industrial Revolution, but we dive into the guts of the city. He explained the origin of the worker bee symbol and how the "hive" spirit lives on in the character of the citizens of Manchester. We also liked the mix of classic history and pop culture. As soon as we were talking about the Peterloo massacre with impeccable solemnity, as we were jumping into the 90s to understand how Oasis, The Smiths and the mythical nightclub The Haçienda changed world music. In short: Manchester is a city with many layers, and this tour is the best way to start removing them. Five stars fall short! Extra tip: At the end, we asked for recommendation to eat a good local fish and chips and sent us to an authentic place, away from tourist traps. A tenner!
