The tour starts from your hotel in Durban and proceeds to Pietermaritzburg - the capital of KwaZulu-Natal and named after Piet Mauritus Retief. You will have the opportunity to see attractions such as the city hall as the city has the most historical buildings of the British architecture. You will then proceed to the Nelson Mandela Capture Site which is where Nelson Mandela was captured and sent into his incarceration, and nearby is a museum where his life is laid out. The tour then proceeds to the Howick Falls otherwise known as "the place of the tall one". The waterfall is a 95m cascade into a pool that the locals believe to be a place of spirits of the ancestors. To conclude the tour, you will be taken to The Valley of a Thousand Hills where you will experience the Zulu culture and Zulu dance at Phezulu Cultural Village . You can venture into the traditional Zulu Huts where various artefacts, beliefs and rituals are explained. You will then conclude the tour with a visit to the Reptile Park where a qualified park guide will intrigue you with interesting facts about the resident crocodiles and exotic reptiles, before returning to Durban.

Bule met us at our hotel and we set off for our adventure. It was a great day! Bule answered all our questions and shared all about Zulu culture; we couldn’t have asked for a better guide and experience.

Bule was a phenomenal tour guide. He made sure we had everything we needed and gave us a history lesson on the Zulu people as well as Durban, and Pietermartinzburg. He was funny, patient, and overall such a great guide. When * I return to Durban, I hope to go on another tour with him. Thanks for showing me and my cousin such a great time!

The entire experience with Zulu Safaris was wonderful. Mbalenhle helped us choose the tour based on our interests. She also took care of all of the details including providing tips for our day to make sure we would enjoy the experience. She was very thoughtful. Our guide, Sotiri, was professional, warm, knowledgeable and he made us feel like family. The Valley of a Thousand Hills is appropriately named! Gorgeous. The presentation at the Phezulu Cultural Center was incredible and the setting breathtaking. We made many other stops along the way - Pietermaritzburg, KwaNogqaza Falls, lunch and shopping in Howick - and we enjoyed and learned at each one. The highlight was our visit to the Mandela Capture Site Museum. It was moving and educational. The long walk to the sculpture of Mandela is a fitting tribute and serene setting. You will not be disappointed with this tour but they are also great about customizing based on your interests. For example, they arranged a short night tour of Durban for us the evening before and then took us to Umhlanga where we enjoyed a delicious meal of local fresh fish. Everywhere you go - and I really mean EVERYWHERE YOU GO - they know Zulu Safaris and you get the VIP treatment. THANK YOU Mbalenhle and Sotiri!

1st Zulu Safaris and Aaron, the driver and guide in particular provided 1st class professional service. The transport vehicle was modern and new. Aaron knew details and his knowledge on Durban was excellent answering all questions asked correctly. We were googling his responses, and he was right. Great sense of humour and went out of his way to ensure an enjoyable day. The group of 5 had a very enjoyable day thanks to Aaron.

My guide, Fortune, was amazing. He allowed me to go at my pace. Never during the tour did I feel rushed. I have a deeper understanding of Zulu culture and saw some beautiful sites in nature. Take your time at the Mandela Capture Site Museum. It was an interesting read.

Was picked up promptly by our guide Christo .The vehicle was very very nice and comfortable . me and my friend felt so happy to visit Nelson Mandela world capture site because of your well educated and respective tour guides. We enjoyed chatting and getting to know him as much as we enjoyed the tour and history of Mandela.I would highly recommend this tour for everyone who love the history of Mandela and zulu culture.

Did this tour on my own. Vusi was my guide, he was also my guide a few days earlier when i did the safari. The conversation was nice and friendly and easy, very informative. A great day that began with a drive to the PheZulu Cultural Village and Reptile Centre, a Great experience as not too busy and hot. The capture Centre was amazing, lots of reading mind but the new site of the museum had been only opened for a couple of days and was not too busy either so able to take loads of photos. Great Value for money.
