We started in Sayulita with very comfortable transportation to the port in Puerto Vallarta. The crew from the start was warm and welcoming. The food on the boat was good and provided at good intervals. The drinks were kept flowing. The crew was attentive to our safety and comfort without being overbearing. The activities were fun, the island was beautiful. We saw whales, a turtle and many birds along the journey.

It is amazing! They take very good care of you. There’s drinks and food, even snacks. Comfy seating. Great views. Clean facilities. The island is sandy with caves to explore. So much fun! Do the slide. Jump in. Snorkel. It’s for everyone.

Loved the whole tour. The crew was exceptional. The activities so much fun. The crew really takes care of you on and off the boat. Only thing I would critique would be to quit serving alcohol to people that have clearly had too much. Cup holders would be a nice addition.

(A Slightly Hungover, Completely Honest Review from a Family of 9 Who Still Can’t Stop Talking About It) Picture this: Nine of us—six adults, three kids (ages 5, 7, and 9)—pile onto a catamaran in Nuevo Vallarta expecting the usual “pleasant day at sea” experience. Instead, we accidentally boarded the floating equivalent of a really good house party hosted by the most attentive people on planet Earth. Meet Chica Loca Tours, the crew that just raised the bar so high that every other boat trip we’ve ever taken now feels like a sad ferry ride to a tax audit. The Vibe: Pure, Unfiltered Joy in Liquid Form From the second your barefoot toes hit the deck (no shoes allowed, live your best life), the crew descends like beverage fairies. Light breakfast? Instantly in your hand—fresh fruit, mini muffins, chips, and guacamole so good it should be illegal. Drinks? Name your poison: mimosas at 9 a.m. (don’t judge, we’re on vacation), ice-cold beer, rum punch that could convince a nun to dance, margaritas, piña coladas, water, soda—whatever your heart desires, it magically appears. For the 90-minute ride out to Islas Marietas, the boat is one giant floating dance floor. Music pumping, crew hyping everyone up, kids running wild (safely), adults reverting to college-spring-break energy. We spotted whales multiple times—actual whales!—and the captain slowed down every single time so we could lose our minds like it was our first day on Earth. The Marietas Islands: Gorgeous, Wild, and Not for the Faint of Heart (or Tiny of Leg) The islands themselves are stupid-pretty—crystal water, hidden coves, birds everywhere. Snorkeling was excellent; visibility was insane and the fish clearly got the memo to show off. The beach landing, however? That’s where Mother Nature says, “Cute, you thought this was a chill family excursion?” Waves slam you like they’ve got a personal grudge. Our 7- and 9-year-olds handled it with some hand-holding and dramatic flair, but the 5-year-old declared it “too spicy” and opted for boat-chilling instead. (Wise choice, tiny legend.) Because of age restrictions, we couldn’t do the famous Hidden Beach (you have to swim through a cave—sorry, not risking that with the preschooler), but honestly? We didn’t even care. The crew turned the catamaran into the main event—two massive slides off the roof, jumping platforms, and endless snacks. Lunch on the way back was legit good carne asada fajitas, more guac, and zero attitude if you wanted seconds (or fourths). The Crew: Basically Superheroes in Board Shorts We’ve done 8–10 catamaran trips across Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean. This crew is, hands-down, the best we’ve ever had. Attentive doesn’t even begin to cover it—they anticipated needs we didn’t know we had. Kid needs water? Already there. Grandma wants another piña colada? Teleportation-level service. Someone looking a little green from the waves? Ginger candy and a cold towel appear like magic. They enforced the two-hour no-alcohol window near the protected islands (rules are rules), but the second we cleared it? Party Volume II instantly resumed. These people work hard and still manage to make it feel like they’re having more fun than you are. The Verdict If you have strong swimmers (or kids who think getting body-slammed by waves is hilarious), book this tour yesterday. If you have toddlers or non-swimmers, maybe wait a year or two—or just embrace the fact that the boat itself is the destination. Chica Loca isn’t just a tour; it’s a full-day tropical rager with better snacks and nicer humans than most weddings I’ve been to. 10/10. Would sell a kidney to do it again. (Kidding. But only slightly.) Pro tips: Wear water shoes for the beach landing (you’ll thank me). Bring waterproof phone pouches. Tip these angels generously—they’ve earned every peso and then some. Chica Loca Tours didn’t just give us a day trip. They gave us a core memory and the new gold standard for “family fun.” See you next year, legends. Save us some guac.

It was just amazing as it was first time for my husband and me to access the hidden beach, we have done other water activities elsewhere as well, but the hidden beach was just fantastic for the given fact because we had to swim till there!

This was the first excursion of it's kind in my life and I will never forget it. The crew was top notch and just the right amount of attentive. Always there to ensure your needs were met without hovering. The boat was so comfortable, clean and the drinks & food were incredible. The captain had a fantastic sense of humour and took very good care of all of us. I can't recommend this trip enough. It was, by far, the HIGHLIGHT of my trip. I will do it again if I can, the next time I am there. This was a business trip so I'd really love to be able to do this with my children. Thank you Chica Locca! xo
