Our Northern Catamaran Cruise offers a well-balanced mix of sailing, swimming and island time along Mauritius’ northern coastline.
Departing from Grand Baie, the experience begins with a scenic cruise towards the iconic Coin de Mire (Gunner’s Quoin), where guests enjoy a refreshing swim and snorkelling stop in clear blue waters.
The cruise then continues to Îlot Gabriel, where guests disembark and spend time on one of the most pristine islets in the north. With its white sandy beaches and turquoise lagoon, it’s the perfect setting to relax, swim or explore at your own pace.
A BBQ lunch is served on board while anchored near the island, offering a relaxed dining experience. The afternoon is dedicated to relaxing on the catamaran with drinks, music and coastal views before a smooth return to Grand Baie.
This experience stands out for its natural flow, combining key highlights of the north with a relaxed pace and a friendly onboard atmosphere.

At Coin de Mire (Gunner’s Quoin), the catamaran anchors in clear blue waters for a refreshing swim and snorkelling stop. Guests can jump straight into the lagoon to explore the underwater life, with calm conditions often ideal for spotting colourful fish around the rocky seabed. For those who prefer to stay on board, the setting offers stunning views of the iconic islet rising sharply from the ocean. Keep an eye on the sky, as Pailles en Queue birds are frequently seen gliding around the cliffs, adding to the wild and untouched feel of the location. This stop is all about enjoying the water, the scenery and the unique atmosphere of one of the north’s most recognisable landmarks.
Ilot Gabriel
At Îlot Gabriel, guests disembark onto one of the most pristine islets in the north of Mauritius. You’ll have time to relax on the soft white sand, swim in the clear turquoise lagoon or explore the island’s natural surroundings. The shallow, calm waters are ideal for a refreshing dip, while the wide open beach offers plenty of space to unwind and enjoy the scenery. For those who wish, snorkelling can be enjoyed in the lagoon, where you may spot a variety of tropical fish in the clear conditions. Whether you choose to swim, walk along the shoreline or simply relax under the sun, this stop offers a peaceful island escape in a truly unspoilt setting.

We booked a private catamaran family tour, and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Visiting Gabriel islet is simply paradisiacal, with crystal clear waters ideal for snorkeling. We had the chance to observe a wide variety of fish, but also to swim with rays and turtles, a magical moment! The crew was exceptional, caring from start to finish, always attentive and warm. The boat is beautiful, very comfortable and perfectly maintained. A great crush also for the food, which was great quality and really delicious. We recommend this excursion with your eyes closed!

Had a fantastic full day experience with Blue Safari during our Mauritius trip. The catamaran cruise was extremely well organized — smooth sailing, great crew, delicious food and just the right balance of relaxation and activity. The team was warm, attentive, and made sure everyone onboard was comfortable throughout. One of the highlights of the trip — highly recommended.

Beautiful! the cruise is with the engine on the way, we went to Gabriel Island where we swam with two turtles, unstressed, lunch on the boat, barbecue of sailors, then back to sailing with the company of dolphins.

A lovely day at sea. Plenty of room on the boat with nice crew who were both happy and gave good service. Food and drink was clearly affordable what could be improved was information about surrounding islands and other interesting information in English. The local information provided was in French.

We had a wonderful dat during the trip. The very morning wheather was not perfect and we were told that the trip to the island was not possibile. We decided to go anyway and in the end the captain decided it was safe to go and we had a wonderful day. Also lunch was very tasty and Gabriel island is beautiful. Definitely recommended.

We were extremely disappointed with this trip. Prior to booking, we specifically contacted the organiser to request photos of the catamaran so that we could make an informed decision. Our main considerations were the size of the vessel and the amount of shade available. Unfortunately, the catamaran we were placed on was completely different from the one shown in the photos provided. The boat was much smaller, had very limited shaded areas, and the bathroom facilities were not up to an acceptable standard. This felt misleading, as the decision to book was based on the images shared, which did not reflect the actual vessel used. For this reason, we would not recommend booking this experience as you’ll never know what boat you will be on.
