This half day guided tour will start with a tour of Malta’s medieval city of Mdina, Malta’s former capital. The narrow, winding streets, dating back to the Arab period, lead to the imposing bastions, commanding a panoramic view of the islands. On the way there, you will discover different styles of architecture, including the medieval Siculo-Norman palaces, and other baroque buildings of great historical importance. Time stands still in this ‘Silent City’ which is a film-maker’s paradise.

Leaving Mdina through Greek’s Gate, we proceed to the cliffs at Dingli. The tour ends with a visit to the San Anton botanical gardens situated near the Presidential Palace, which you will be able to admire from outside.

We were left waiting for our pickup with no update from the tour operator for a half hour. Then we were taken to another spot to change buses. We booked an English tour but were added on to a group from Germany so we got all the explanations twice. It seemed that the tour guide was only interested in stopping at every church there was and little else. At least a bathroom stop in the 4+ hours would have been helpful. Overall no a very good tour.

Excellent short trip to 3 must-see Malta locations. Well organised, comfortable transport to and from Valletta, and Celine was a wonderfully professional, friendly and knowledgeable guide.

  • Save money and take the local bus instead

Mdina is gorgeous and the time allowed was sufficient but I recommend taking the local bus instead. The gardens were terrible - my backyard is nicer, cliffs are cliffs.. nice view but you only need 10mins there. Tour guide was terrible and added no local knowledge- I learnt more from the signs than from her. Save your money and take the local bus!

The guide did not provide much historical context, did not tie Mdina to the rest of Malta. And ended the tour with perfunctory here is the cathedral - since we don’t have much time and it costs money in addition to the tour, I don’t recommend it. No passion for the place and it’s history and no capacity to bring it to life.

  • Not well organized.

Tour started with a van pickup at the designated meeting point near the port. The van driver had no signage and as it turned out was picking up folks for multiple tours. Took about 20 minutes to get to a point where the van driver said we were to be transferred to a coach. Had to wait almost 30 minutes for all coaches to arrive (about 6). Again no signage to designate which coach was for which tour. When we got on coach, it turned out that tour was being given in both English and German, which detracts as I don't think you get as much explanation when having to repeat. First stop was the Gardens which were underwhelming. We then went to Mdina which was interesting but could have used more time instead of stop at gardens. Dingli Cliffs were a 10 minute photo stop. We were then taken to another transfer point to get on a van to go back to Valletta since some of the folks on the coach were on a longer tour. We got back to port at Valletta over an hour later that scheduled which didn't leave us much time to visit the beautiful town. The whole tour could have been much more enjoyable if we had skipped Gardens and spent
