Step into the heart of Melaka and uncover the stories that shaped this UNESCO World Heritage City. This free walking tour offers centuries of culture, trade, and tradition — without stretching your budget.
As you explore the city’s charming streets, discover its mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and European influences reflected in architecture, cuisine, and daily life. Learn how Melaka transformed from a bustling trading port into a symbol of Malaysia’s multicultural identity.
Highlights include Dutch Square, Christ Church, St. Paul’s Church, and the historic A Famosa Fort, one of Asia’s oldest surviving European structures. Stroll down Jonker and Heeren Street, where time stands still among heritage shophouses and vibrant street life.
Note: This is a tip-based tour. The booking fee secures your spot, while tips (suggested RM50-100 per person) directly support your guide’s efforts, which is a fair amount. Your voluntary tip supports their continued work.

My husband and I joined this tour. Our guide Mimi spoke English very well and clearly explained the historical sights with an easy informative manner. The tour was “free” with only a tip at the end, I would have preferred a set payment to ensure we paid the correct amount, as it is always hard to judge the right amount. I really liked the length of the tour of about 2 hours. I would really recommend this tour

Our tour was absolutely amazing! Mimi was very knowledgeable and engaging. We even had an optional dance lesson during our tour, where we practiced and performed a traditional dance. Definitely one of the best tours we’ve been on, and I’d highly recommend others take it as well!

Don't book it! It's a scam! Because actually what they do is a free tour, which does not request to be paid for the reservation then in addition to paying viator they have to pay the guide later!

We were with our daughter in law from Helsinki. Did a walking tour with Olivia (fm Monster Tour) as the guide. She is a very experienced guide who knows the history very well. She could even recite the history dates. We find her very approachable and her local knowledge of being a native added a lot of colors. We strongly recommend this 4 hrs walking tour - it will bring a very good perspective of Melaka. Knew fm Olivia that Melaka is a name of a tree (which she showed us).

We had the best ever tour guide! Olivia who gave us her complete attention for over 5 hours - taking us on a morning through the entire UNESCO heritage area of Melaka and in and out of Chinatown. Olivia knows her history in depth and delivers the details with energy, enthusiasm and delight! She took additional time to point out the significance of communal homes and where some of my ancestors may have lived. I am so glad we selected Monster Day Tour to guide us through this area, I have no doubt at all, we would have missed the details and stories if we had just wandered through by ourselves! Thank you Olivia for taking the care and for answering all our questions! N

I really enjoyed the guided tour this morning with our guide, Olivia. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared Melaka’s history in a way that felt both informative and fresh. Even as a Malaysian who learned some of this history in school, I found the additional stories and perspectives she shared genuinely interesting. Olivia was also kind, attentive, and very friendly, making sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the tour. Her warm approach made the experience even more enjoyable. One small suggestion would be to consider adding a short food element to the tour, such as one or two must-try local food stops. This would be a great addition for first-time visitors and even locals, as Melaka always feels like a mini getaway. Overall, this was a well-organised, engaging, and enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Melaka.
