What To Expect
Melbourne Skydeck
Get set for liftoff as you enter the Melbourne Skydeck express elevator, which will take you to level 88 in less than 40 seconds! On the Skydeck, be amazed by the panoramic views from the floor-to-ceiling windows that surround you. See Melbourne’s Central Business District, the sports precinct and Port Phillip Bay; if it’s a clear day, your view will extend all the way out to the Dandenong Ranges. Walk through the air lock and go outside to ‘The Terrace.’ Feel the wind rush in your ears as you stand 975 feet (300 meters) above the ground. Grab a pair of high-powered binoculars for up-close views of the city, and watch ‘The Edge’ in action as it projects out from the side of the building.

5.00We planned on having a few days in Melbourne on our way home to New Zealand from Tasmania. After wandering around Southbank we decided to do the Skydeck which is located on the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower 935feet above the pavement. We chose just the general admission but there are several packages available. The lift takes just 38 seconds to reach the 88th floor and your ears pop on the way up. 360 degree views of the city and beyond. There is a licensed cafe and toilets and lots of spots for photos or just sit and admire the view. You can go outside on to a viewing deck which is fully enclosed with a wire netting. On other tours you can pay to go out on a glass floor. Whilst writing this I found out that if you return within 36hours you can upgrade to a night time viewing for just $10 each so we took advantage of it as our hotel was just across the square. The night time viewing is magical, with the city lights. It's a must do if in Melbourne CBD. A fine day is best and at night with the city lights was amazing.

5.00Whisked to the 88th floor in a merger 38 seconds, wow! The views were breathtaking and not very crowded. Wished that I’d thought ahead and videotaped in the elevator on our way down as we passed each floor.
