We took two tours with Visit Meteora. First we did a private sunset tour for our family of 6 - since we arrived to Kalambaka a bit too late for the "group tour". Vasilis did a great job and was passionate about showing us as much as he could. We saw several monasteries on that tour, 1 from the inside (since they close around 5:30 and we arrived from Delphi only at 5), and two others from the outside. We also loved seeing other sites on that tour including the Byzantine church. The finale was the sunset high atop the hills. The next morning, we did the morning monasteries tour (which turned out to be private too) when we saw 3 monasteries inside. They were all beautiful and Nicholas was equally passionate about teaching us about the history and stories. We felt like we saw "enough" even though we saw 4 of the 6 monasteries in these 2 tours. (We did not feel like we needed to see more than that.) So happy we did these tours, as we really felt like we saw what we wanted to see of Meteora. Highly recommend!

Dimitris picked us up at the Story Teller hotel where we were staying promptly at 9:00 a.m. It was just my wife and I on the tour. Dimitris was professional and extremely knowledgable about the village of Kalabaka, the Thessaly region, Meteora and the monasteries. We were dropped off at the steps of the three monasteries we visited and were allowed to spend as much or as little time at each as we wished. At the end of our tour, Dimitris took us to a tavern where we shared a coffee and visited for well over half an hour. Our time spent with Dimitris one of the highlights of our trip to Greece. We highly recommend taking this tour and suggest you request Dimitris be your guide.

We stayed in Meteora in a group of 9 people and booked a one-hour tour with a local Guide to a monastery. We saw the Varlaam monastery and it was an unforgettable experience thanks to the talented Guide Dimitris who accompanied us to discover the monastery talking about art, history and religion! Really super!

Awesome trip to Meteroa. Also, did the hiking and sunset tour. It wouldn't have been the same experience without a guide. Visit Meteora was amazing and easy to deal with. Thanks!

It was my first time in Meteora and I am very glad I had Dimitrios as guide. He was excellent. I really enjoyed it and being a guide myself, I am happy with the profession we have.

Highly recommend the private hiking tour! It was a great way to get away from the crowds and see some more unique sites at Meteora. We had a great day with our guide Ivan. He spoke excellent English, was really knowledgeable, and was fun to spend the day with. Given where we were coming from, we started our tour at 10am (most start at 8:30 though) and finished about 2:30pm with a good amount of time spent inside the Varlaam monastery. The hike was only about 4 miles in total, with some uphill but nothing too strenuous. It was a good amount of time to explore the sites, get in some steps, and soak up beautiful views. The best part was seeing the "hidden" monastery tucked in the rocks from the monastery of St Anthony. Tourists aren't allowed inside but seeing it from the viewpoint was stunning, and even more amazing because we were the only ones there away from the massive crowds of tour bus visitors at the other locations. Hiking was a much more special way to see this impressive place!
