Learn to mix rum-based cocktails with your host and rummelier Dameain, voted "Mixologist of the year" in Barbados for two consecutive years! A brand ambassador for West Indies Rum Distillery's rums, Dameain is also a TV personality. Dameain is excited to share his passion for mixology by offering a master mixology class at the Pelican Bar. Funnily enough, Dameain started his career in nutrition. At the end of his shift at the most popular bar and restaurant in St. Lawrence Gap (Cafe Jungles), he would hang out and help at the bar. His manager saw his interest in the bar and he has since become one of the top bartenders/mixologists in the country. Dameain travels to the US to educate audiences about rum at various spirit festivals and is the person to connect with if you're interested in learning about and appreciating rum! Your experience includes a brief history of rum production and a rum tasting in addition to a mixology class paired with local finger foods.

Dameain hosts on Mondays and Tuesdays between 10-4:30pm where timing permits. Feel free to customize your timing directly with Dameain after you book if the 1pm or 3pm time slots don't work for you.

What To Expect

Enjoy a fun and interactive mixology experience in Bridgetown at a bar, located a 10-min walk from the cruise terminal. Begin your 1-hour personalized cocktail class with a brief history of the heritage and production of rum in Barbados. Next, dive into your master mixology session, where you’ll learn the art of cocktail-making and even take part in a friendly competition. Under Dameain’s expert guidance, craft two to three signature rum-based cocktails, including: - A traditional Barbadian rum punch - Corn ‘n’ Oil, featuring falernum, a local sugarcane liqueur - A creative, contemporary rum cocktail infused with local flavors Along the way, Dameain will share insights into the history and tasting notes of aged rums, teaching you how to appreciate their unique characteristics. As you shake and sip your creations, enjoy local Bajan bites like fish cakes or samosas. This experience is ideal for couples, large groups or corporate events in Barbados.

5.00This was the most amazing experience. Dameain was so fun and knowledgeable, and we just had a great time. I didn't know that the class is a private class, so it's only your group there. The rum was great, which surprised me because I'm not really a rum drinker, but it was absolutely delicious. During the class, now only do you learn about the cocktail making process, but you also make your own cocktails based on your tastes. They were so delicious that I had to write down the ingredients to remake at home! Dameain also taught us how to take the prettiest pictures of our drinks! This is a MUST do on any visit to Barbados.
Educational, entertaining, hands-on. I love to have guest go beyond their comfort zone and experience something new.

5.00This had to be one of the best and most interactive experiences I've ever had. Dameain made the whole experience fun, educational, and, of course, tasty. You can tell he takes his craft seriously and has a passion for craft cocktail making and mixology. I would 1000% recommend this activity to anyone visiting Barbados. I booked this for my husband's birthday and he enjoyed it a lot. If you're looking for something to do other than beaches, booked this tour!!

5.00Our mixology class with Dameain Williams was absolutely phenomenal! From the moment we arrived, Dameain went above and beyond to make the experience both educational and incredibly fun. His passion for mixology was evident in every detail, from the carefully selected ingredients to the fascinating stories behind each cocktail. Not only did we learn how to craft delicious, well-balanced drinks, but Dameain also made sure we understood the techniques and flavors that make each cocktail special. His warm hospitality and engaging personality made the entire experience feel like an intimate gathering with a friend rather than just a class.
