The construction of the Plaza Independencia in the space occupied by the old Citadel was an idea carried out by the architect Carlo Zucchi in 1837, when it was decided to expand the old colonial city, as part of a general planning plan. We will report why they are ornamented with 33 palm trees, in homage to the Thirty-Three Orientals who participated in the Liberation Crusade. From the Plaza we can appreciate the Palacio Salvo, the Solis Theater, the Executive Tower, the Estevez Palace and the old Puerta de la Ciudadela.
Palacio Legislativo
The Legislative Palace is the seat of the Legislative Power of Uruguay. The General Assembly works there, which is made up of two chambers that meet separately or jointly depending on the circumstances: the House of Representatives and the House of Senators. The construction of the work was in charge of the Italian architect Gaetano Moretti, who counted on the collaboration of the Uruguayan architect Eugenio Baroffio.

This is a bus tour in multiple languages together. I believe there are 6 stops. It is useful on the first day of a visit to Montevideo to see some noteworthy buildings and plazas. However, the guide only provided info while in the bus and everything had to be said 3 times, so the information was a but limited. It would have been better if the speaking was also done outside and went beyond basic facts about each place. I would have preferred a walking tour of the old city.

It was a small group of about a half a dozen people. I appreciated the fact that since I was the only english speaker they didn't cancel my tour but did it bilingually to accommodate me.

Somewhat informative of the area. Would recommend if you are just looking for a brief overview of the city and shore line. Was picked up at my hotel ON TIME as stated. Seems like a responsible tour center group. Answered queried emails,, promptly.

Best part was driving out along the beach boardwalk on east side of city - beautiful and would not have seen that much of the area without being on the tour (since it is quite aways from old section of montevideo.).
