Moulin Rouge

Your tour begins outside the legendary Moulin Rouge windmill. Built in 1889, the same year as Paris’ World Fair Expo, this famed eye-catching cabaret shares a birth year with the Eiffel Tower and has become a symbol of Montmartre. Home to the risqué cancan dance, Le Moulin Rouge has been delighting visitors for over 130 years with its Vegas-like theatrics and sumptuous interior.

As you turn towards Montmartre’s cobblestone streets, you will soon notice the village-like ambiance of this distinct neighborhood. This is especially true as you see the shops along the Rue des Martyrs, which legend has it was the very street the first bishop of Paris was crucified. Your guide will also draw your attention to Montmartre’s historic vineyard landscape, and the centuries’ old history behind some of the winemakers in the area. You will have plenty of time to take pictures by the former homes of artists such as Van Gogh, Renoir and Picasso. You will also have the chance to stop by Montmartre’s oldest cabaret - Au Lapin Agile. Founded in 1860, Au Lapin Agile frequently hosted famous artists such as such as Edith Piaf and inspired paintings by the likes of Picasso and Utrillo.

My family and I had a wonderful time on our private walking tour of Montmarte with Linda. Being an artist herself, Linda was super engaging and had many fun anecdotes to share. Linda pointed out many interesting places and was knowledgeable about the area and its history. Linda has a very fun and warm personality and we had a great time with her.

We actually did the private walking tour of Montmartre. Linda was our guide and she gave us a great overview of Montmartre and the fascinating history of the area. You could tell that she was very passionate about the history of Montmartre and Paris in general and she had lots of interesting stories to tell. It felt like strolling around with a knowledgable friend. We have used Liv tours for several tours in Paris and Rome and have always had a great experience. They are very organized and use high quality guides.

Recently my best friend and I celebrated 40 yrs of friendship with a trip to Paris and Venice. Our first day in Paris, we toured Montmartre with David and it was a fabulous day! David is warm and instantly engaging and we were lucky enough to have him all to ourselves! He walked us through the neighborhood, making easy conversation, sharing stories of the artists who lived there, the movies filmed there, and even a bit about his own fascinating life. Being a food guy, he gave us great insight into what to look for when eating in Paris. And he taught us the metro! This was a game changer for the rest of our trip. We traveled for 8 days, saw amazing things, and made some wonderful memories. David's tour was a perfect start, and one of my favorite experience of our trip!

Audrey was amazing! She was so friendly and wanted to make sure we got the most out of the tour. I appreciated her asking what are interests were and flexing the tour when possible to tailor to them. She was also willing to share tips and insights into the rest of our trip outside of the tour so we could get the most out of our time in Paris. Wonderful to talk to and would definitely recommend!
