This tour will go in rain or shine. In the winter months, it can happen that the sea freezes in the innermost part of the fjord where there is a lot of fresh water mixed with the sea water, brackish water. If there is so much ice that there is no safe passage for boats, the captain will then choose an alternative route in this area. This is beyond our control and it does not give grounds for claiming a refund for the trip. We will always do our best to give our customers great experiences, even on days when the forces of nature are not easy to handle.

What To Expect

Osterfjorden is a fjord in Vestland county. The fjord is one of three fjords surrounding the island of Osterøy. The fjord runs along the municipal border of Lindås and Osterøy municipalities. The fjord begins at the Romarheimsfjorden and flows to the west for 27 kilometres (17 mi) before ending near the village of Knarvik at the confluence of four fjords: Osterfjorden, Radfjorden (to the north), Sørfjorden (to the south), and Salhusfjorden (to the west). The Osterfjorden is generally about 1 to 3 kilometres (0.62 to 1.86 mi) wide and the deepest point in the fjord reaches a depth of 639 metres (2,096 ft) below sea level.

Canalized river with tidal water deep into the Osterfjord. The stream is about 600 metres long and between 50 and 60 meters wide at the most narrow place. Mostraumen was canalized (dredged) about 1913.

I chose this cruise because I did not want to be gone all day on a bus/boat/train combo. Glad I did! Mine started in the late morning and was about 3 hours and 45 minutes. The boat and it's seats were very comfortable. I sat in a table-type setup and met a wonderful couple from Ireland. Refreshments are sold so you can enjoy a beverage or two while the boat ride was very smooth and enjoyable. The staff will let you know when the main sights are coming up so you can get the camera ready. I went from outside to inside, back and forth often. My cruise was very crowded but we were still able to get great pics and views. The scenery was stunning.

An amazing but very cold trip. Definitely one to do, but wrap up warm. After the highlight most people vanished inside to start post to socials, which meant missing more amazing scenery. At the far end of the trip the lack of phone signal rendered their credit card machine unusable, so have a bit of cash for drinks and snacks. But certainly a day of unforgettable sights and photos.
Short day trip excellent for a taste of the fjords.

Sit on the starboard side for the best views. Very helpful with disabled people. Nice cruise good clean windows and excellent English language commentary. Enjoyed it and surprised when the end came so fast.

Fjord cruises come in all sizes: there's the quick, tick-the-box cruise; and at the other end there's the all-day cruise that takes you out into the wilds, so to speak, which is great for real enthusiasts. For most of us, this 4-hour cruise fits the bill perfectly. Our cruise was made all the better by the very helpful crew. They warmly encouraged us to go out and take in the view from the open deck, helping us to enjoy the experience while looking after our safety, herding us in when necessary and letting us out again. A thoroughly delightful afternoon.

Leaves at 9:00 sharp. Don’t be late. Except for a couple kinda short spectacular passages, it was an average boatride. Great way to take a long nap.

If you are able bodied, it is an easy 7 minute walk ( I’m 67) to the slip to catch the tour. The tour is reasonably priced. Even on a drizzly day it was worth a trip to see the cascades, waterfalls & fjords. The drop off point is at a slip further down from the Viking dock but still the same pier. So the walk back to the shop was maybe 10 minutes.
