The Bu Maher Fort Visitor’s Center is the starting point to discovering more about the Pearling Path that has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The center contains a three-dimensional display that guides the viewer though the history of the path and the houses which formed it from the early beginnings to the main pearling traders.
Al Ghus House – the pearl diver house – is thought to have been built by a boat captain (Nukhidhah), a captain’s second-in-command, or perhaps a master boatbuilder in the first decade of the 20th century and is said to have been inhabited and used by related divers.

Muharraq pearling path is a great tour. Very interesting, lot of information and insights on how the oyster divers operated, how the pearl business flourished and the houses looked like. Super nice neighborhood specially during the Muharraq festival in December. Discover the other part of Manama. Khaled was a super great guide.

This is an excellent walking tour through the rich history of Bahrains pearl diving. Our guide, Khaled, is a good storyteller and created a narrative that blended history with tales of life of Bahrain.

This was one of the most serene, fun, relaxing-yet-active walking tours I've had the pleasure of enjoying. Khaled is a wonderful guide - friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable on the history of Bahrain in general, and its mesmeric pearling traditions and legacy in particular. The tour blends the exploration of winding alleys, cultural houses steeped in history and stunning architectural flourishes, and both wonderful viewing points and the cutest coffee shops imaginable. I couldn't recommend this tour highly enough - an absolute bucket list experience when visiting Bahrain.

Khalid took us to 5 different houses after the short boat ride over. He covered an immense amount of information to our group of 8 visitors from several different countries. Several of them had only one day in Bahrain. They felt this tour was excellent use of their time. And I agree. The dinner at the end was excellent. We all found it to be a rewarding evening. Thanks again Khalid!!

We loved learning about the pearl industry in Bahrain. Seeing the heritage homes and the shipbuilding area made everything tangible.

A Fantastic Cultural Experience on the Pearling Path. I am new to Bahrain and wanted to truly understand the island’s rich history and warm culture. I can’t recommend the Pearling Path Tour with Khalid enough, it was such a nice half day out in Bahrain. Khalid was an exceptional guide — incredibly friendly, welcoming, and full of knowledge/history about Bahrain’s pearling heritage and wider culture/history. His narration brought the history to life and his passion for sharing his country’s culture really shone through to all the guests/visitors. The tour itself was well paced, especially considering the hot weather. It had balance between historical highlights and cultural immersion starting the tour with a lovely boat journey, which added a lovely touch of adventure and connection to Bahrain’s pearl divers... which is what the tour is all about. One of my favorite parts was the local Bahraini breakfast — a delicious and authentic experience that gave us a real taste of Bahraini food. Khalid made sure everyone felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout, offering stops for water/beverages at well places stops, we stopped to speak in the shade, and could openly ask questions and discuss things as a group. Overall, this tour was fun, insightful, and well organised — the right length for a Bahraini day. Khalid’s hospitality and enthusiasm made it a great experience for expats in Bahrain or anyone who is visiting. I would do other tours with Khalid based off of the experience I had on this tour.
