What To Expect
We will nicely embark by boat ( about 35 minutes trip) to join my family’s village on a small and beautiful island on the peaceful river delta of Hoi An. Upon your arrival, you will be served a fresh and delicious fruit juice, a typical Vietnamese fruit-based drink. While you enjoy your tasty drink, It will be the opportunity to learn about the Vietnamese countryside life and meet Grandma. From here, we will go to my family’s home where you will begin your cooking lesson. Learn how the rice paper, used in the flavorful fried eggroll is prepared and how to prepare several typical succulent dishes of this authentic region: -Banh Xeo (small rice flour crepes) a specialty of Hoi An. -Grilled, marinated pork brochettes with a special sauce. -Green papaya salad -Fish prepared according to a local recipe. * Vegetarian menu on request: Banh Xeo, Eggplant grilled, Green papaya salad, Mushroom, and tofu clay pot. Once this tasty meal has been prepared, we will enjoy the meal in my grandmother’s garden. You will also be served pumpkin soup and “Xí Mà“ a delicious dessert (black sesame pudding). We will return to Hoi An by boat.

5.00We had a wonderful experience with our guide, Na, at Grandma's home on an island in the river. We had a short walk from town to a medium-sized boat, then a 45 minute ride to the island. We made four dishes there, all of them excellent! We were also provided recipes for the dishes we made with some potential American substitutions. We also saw the traditional way of husking rice and separating the good rice from the chaff, then made rice paper that we later are in spring rolls. A 30 minute walk back to the boat (different spot than the drop off) with some glimpses of Vietnamese island life. Overall a wonderful experience, highly recommended! Thank you, Na!

5.00I choose this cooking class because I liked the idea of it being located on one of the islands, so arriving by boat. Im definitely not a cook but the dishes I prepared that day were delicious :) Varied menu , dietary restrictions catered for, beautiful fresh ingredients. The days organisation was perfect. Thom and her team are excellent. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for the recipe book (no excuse not to try at home!)

5.00This was one of the best experiences we had in Vietnam. There was a relaxing boat trip and then it was very interesting to learn about the culture and the family on the island. I will be trying to recreate the recipes when i get home. Loved it all. Thom, the guide and demonstrator was great.

Thom (the instructor) and her team were excellent and gave clear demonstrations and explanations. It was a very enjoyable experience!

5.00This was such a lovely experience!!! The food is incredible, made 4 full Vietnamese dishes that were so delicious! The staff, thom, was super nice, sweet and took lots of pics for our memories! Would highly recommend this tour to anyone interest doing a Vietnamese cooking class.
