The hike takes a route through small and picturesque traditional villages and areas of unrivaled natural beauty. You'll start and end your hike at Halki, a gem village which boasts samples of remarkable neoclassical architecture.
Hike through the scenic valley of Tragea, dotted with Byzantine churches different in architectural style and from various eras, some decorated with outstanding frescoes. You ’ll hike through the area’s olive, fig, and citrus groves to reach Panagia Drosiani, one of the Balkans’ oldest churches, dating back to the 6th century AD.
In the heart of the village of Kaloxylos you will visit the folklore museum, where you will have the opportunity to take a step back in time and marvel the rare collections of a bygone age.
At the end of your hike, you'll visit the local distillery producing Kitron, Naxos’ citrus-based liqueur. Your hike ends with a delicious meal (optional) at one of the island's best traditional tavernas or with free time to wander around Halki.

5.00So this was our 2nd trip with Trekking Hellas during the week we spend on Naxos. And we highly recommend this one as well. This was a great walk/hike where we again learned so much more about the history of Naxos. We stopped and ate fruit off trees, visited churches, pet a horse. Ending with olive oil tasting which was amazing and we were able to purchase some to take back home. At this point our daughter was feeling a little overheated/exhausted and our guide David was so kind to sit with her outside in the shade while my husband and I finished the tasting. Definitely went above and beyond. We had a fantastic lunch in the last village and even had leftovers to take back to the hotel. This was a wonderful experience and we would definitely book with Trekking Hellas again. Everything from the initial booking process all the way through the actual hike was such a smooth process. Highly recommend.

5.00What a wonderful experience! Anastasia guided us from Halki through farms and villages in the Hagea valley, and back to Halki. We stopped to chat with a friendly mule, to pick figs and grapes along the way, and to admire breathtaking scenery, churches and villages. It’s not mountain climbing, but there’s a lot of uphill walking, so be prepared. You get a real sense for the island’s culture and life, very different from the beaches and Chora. Highly recommended!

5.00Our Naxian countryside hike was one of our favorite experiences during our two week vacation to Greece! David was an excellent guide, chatting pleasantly about the land, the history, the local culture and traditions. We crossed the countryside through several villages, stopping to see one of the oldest churches in the area and an old olive press factory. At the end of our hike, we sat outside for lunch at a lovely taverna before David drove us back to our hotel. It's an adventure not to be missed!

5.00We had a great experience with Nikos, hiking past olive groves, very old church ruins and various villages. Certainly not something we would likely have done on our own given our short stay in Naxos and he provided a lot about the history of the place. The olive oil tasting and museum as well as the folk museum were nice touches. Certainly worth it on a beautiful day.

5.00Thanks to Nikos who showed us the inner beauty of the island. We were a small group of 7 people and equipped with sticks planned by our guide, we went from Byzantine churches to villages, through the countryside and the scents of rosemary, thyme and oregano. Nikos took us through river paths and trails where only the natives know the well-hidden accesses, explaining the history and culture of the island and giving us details about botany. He took pictures all along the ride (between 8-10km) and sent them to us three days later. I highly recommend to those who want to discover the country differently!

5.00What a great day! The hike through the Byzantine countryside was spectacular! So much history, charming centuries old villages and churches, and our wonderful guide, Niko. A decent workout, gorgeous mountain and valley scenery followed by a traditional Greek meal. Such a great day - highly recommend this tour with Trekking Naxos.

5.00Mikis was a great guide and provided a very full day of an experience. Hiking trail was mostly in nature and good intermediate level. We saw some interesting ancient Greek Orthodox churches, spent time at an olive oil mill, a distillery, a loom. The hike really took us out of tourist mode and showed more of the real Naxos. Nikos was a lot of fun and shared a ton of information about Greece, Naxos and the villages we visited.

5.00Everything about this tour was fantastic. Niko provided walking poles, which were much appreciated! There was history provided throughout the walk. The pace was perfect and the views were amazing. Niko took pictures and sent them afterwards. There was an olive and olive oil tasting at an old olive mill. We added a tour for tomorrow based on our great experience!

We loved our day visiting towns with a history of making olive oil & distillery of making kirton.. And an amazing picnic lunch of fresh & traditional local foods. Thanks Nick ( or should I Sat Niko.

5.00I loved this hike through the different villages in Naxos. I really enjoyed walking on the old paths between the villages and seeing the remains of old churches and houses while being out in nature. The landscape is beautiful and there were so many flowers this time of year. Nick was a fantastic guide - he has such a passion for Naxos and its history. I learned a lot throughout the whole day. We also stopped for an olive oil tasting in one village and Kitron tasting in another. At the end, we had lunch which turned out to be the best meal of my entire trip - very authentic dishes that were delicious. I'd highly recommend this experience to anyone who's looking for time out in nature and wants to get an authentic feel of Naxos.
