Hoia Baciu forest near Cluj-Napoca is a seemingly quiet woodland that became famous in 1968 when a UFO was photographed right above it. After that, strange lights were spotted at night and inexplicable energy was recorded in the area. Even the vegetation looks weird in some parts and some say it's haunted, with paranormal activity. Let's go on a night tour to see it!

Hoia Baciu Forest
Hoia Baciu forest near Cluj-Napoca is a seemingly quiet woodland that became famous in 1968 when a UFO was photographed right above it. After that, strange lights were spotted at night and inexplicable energy was recorded in the area. Even the vegetation looks weird in some parts and some say it's haunted with paranormal activity. We will walk for about 3.5 km (shorter version of the tour is possible). Our destination is Poiana Rotunda or the Round Clearing, the place that is the most famous of them all.

1.00Not worth the money. And you better be in good shape to climb the hill to get to the forest and not be afraid of stepping in sheep crap! We had a private guide who brought us off the side of the road and we had to climb a mountain to get to the forest. Stupid and would never do it again

5.00A fantastic tour! Alex is great guide, very knowledgeable and factual, friendly with a great sense of humour! This is a must if your in Romania. Atmospheric night walk and seeing the rotunda with our own eyes is amazing!! No. 1 on our list of things to do in Cluj!

5.00The night tour through the Hoia Baciu forest was incredible! With the legends about the supernatural phenomena, this was exactly the tour we were looking for because it also touched on what could be explained, so it was a perfect blending of the two. Our tour guide Alex was amazing! The pace of the hike was perfect, even though I am out of shape. Somehow, Alex made walking through a dark forest in the middle of the night with a complete stranger not only safe, but actually peaceful and fun.

5.00You can tell Alex really cares for the forest and its history and mystery. Many interesting stories about the folklore and his personal experiences. You could never get the same feeling by visiting alone. Going at night in the fall made it extra atmospheric. Can’t recommend this tour enough!

4.00To start off, I will admit that we are Christians are not superstitious so we did not expect to see any paranormal activity. Overall, we had a great night walk through the forest. Note, that anyone going on this tour will want to wear sturdy shoes and pants because you will be walking over rough terrain and will not always be on an established trail. Our guide was knowledgeable about the forest itself and recited a variety of stories that have supposedly happened there. Our guide also showed us photographs of paranormal activity at the exact locations when possible. Our guide was very careful to provide just the facts he knew and let us draw our own conclusions. He also gave us some time alone within the circle with no trees, which was nice.

5.00Fantastic tour, Alex is a wealth of information and stories, despite the spooky setting we felt completely comfortable as a group of four women. We would go again, and are very interested in any other tours Alex might do. Saw a great frog and some cool mushrooms, also a delightfully creepy night time forest.

5.00A really great tour through the the forest! Alex was a great guide, very personable and fun to talk to. The tour is great way to learn about some Romanian folklore, as well as the forest's paranormal history. Would recommend both for people interested in the weird side of the world, and for nature lovers.
