Walking through the fortress you get to see amazing views of the ancient town and the nearby mountains. This impressive fortress was a base used in the military to hold off the hardest attacks.

5.00On November 29th, we took a full-day trip to Nizwa. It was a very comprehensive, cultural, and educational excursion. We are extremely grateful to our guide, Muadh, who is a very professional, friendly, and attentive person. Thanks to him, we were able to enjoy this excursion from beginning to end, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Muscat. Thank you!
Perfect day in Niswa, Birkat al Mouz and Jabal Akhdar

5.00Juma organised the perfect trip to Niswa, Birkat al Mouz and Jabal Akhdar. Picking me up on perfect time at my hotel, then we went to the Souq in Niswa where we tried delicious dates. He did not forget to give me an explanation on the varieties of the delicacy. Afterwards he brought me to the famous fort where he took amazing pictures of me (he will tell you he is not good at photos but he is lying 😉). It was like going back to centuries ago. Juma then leaded me in the fort and in the garden outside. We then kept out tour in the old ruins of Birkat Al Mouz where he shown me hidden paths to see parts of the city. Afterwards we met with his mountain friend Mubarak, a funny guy and expert driver with a lot of curiosities and stories to tell. I was shown the villages of the mountain and their story. Thanks to them I could enter the luxurious Anantara hotel to take pictures of the valley beneath and the terraces of fruit trees and vegetables. Mubarak shown me the Diana point and Juma guided me for a easy hike in the green. More pictures and then back to Muscat. I will never forget the kindness and hospitality of Juma, a highly dedicated tour guide, and strongly recommend you to take this tour under his lead as he organised everything with attention to detail to bring you to the most special places of the region.
