What To Expect
Omaha Beach
Omaha Beach, beach in the American sector where troops of the 1st and 29th American Infantry Division landed on June 6, 1944. It will subsequently be nicknamed "Bloody Omaha", the guide who will accompany you will detail the events experienced by these soldiers so that you can feel the emotion that this beach can release.
Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer
An emblematic place on the landing beaches, this cemetery overlooks Omaha beach and is extremely rich in symbolism. Overwhelmed by emotion, you will discover every detail of this place of memory accompanied by your guide.

5.00Loved our tour with Julie! She was very knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. She made hard concepts easy to understand. It was great to have a local’s knowledge with global perspective. She did great navigating around detours. We saw things we would not have seen otherwise. It was an easy (but long) day trip from Paris. It was great with 4 kids 10-12.

What we particularly appreciated was having a local guide with ties to the area and who was passionate about explaining the history and the local view to us. Well worth the afternoon.

5.00This was an outstanding tour with an excellent and well-informed guide (thank you Marian). We learned much and experienced much, and came away with a sense of awe and appreciation for what our young soldiers accomplished on June 6 and beyond. The visit to the cemetery was very moving. For those considering a shorter tour, we'd highly recommend this one - there was a lot of information packed into the trip.

5.00We rented a car in Paris and drove to Bayeaux, where our tour group met. It was about a three hour drive, but the highway is modern, mostly flat and straight. In Bayeaux, our guide, Philippe, drove our small group to Sword Beach (British sector) and to Omaha Beach (American sector). Philippe spoke good English, but his French accent gave his presentation an air of authenticity. Philippe was very knowledgeable about the events leading up to and on June 6, 1944. But he went beyond that, and as we visited the American cemetery atop the cliffs, he shared many stories that reflected the human side of the German, American and French elements that came together during those days. As a retired History teacher, I had high expectations for this tour, and those expectations were well met. Highly recommend!
