Great trip from Tirana, Albania to Ohrid, North Macedonia. Ohrid is very pretty with plenty of interesting history. Nolan was a very knowledgeable guide and ensured we had enough time throughout the day to stop for food, photos, rest and souvenirs. There were only two of us, but Nolan still went ahead with a private tour which was much appreciated. Would highly recommend booking this tour.

Anest is a very knowledgeable and genuine guide (and driver!) who navigated tough situations well and was able to hold any kinds of conversations with people. He is very passionate about his job and anybody on his tour would be very lucky and well taken care of.

Day started with bus issues related to leaking air conditioner. It took a while to sort out but we were quickly back on track. Our guide Anest was professional throughout, very informative and willing to answer all questions and share his knowledge. The guide in Ohrid was equally professional and informative We had to divert on the way home due to heavy traffic, again it was very well handled by Anest. I would recommend the trip to Ohrid and our guide Anest.

This trip was absolutely fabulous!!! It’s definitely a must!!! The tour guide spoke very good English and was friendly and approachable!! The driver drove safely! The bus was comfortable and air conditioned. My boyfriend and I are quite tall and we found it had a comfortable amount of leg room! We made multiple stops for loo breaks and for snacks. The tour guide in North Macedonia spoke good English and had a very good knowledge of the history and general knowledge of the area which was very interesting to listen to. She gave a list of recommendations where to find good food and local gifts. The lake was absolutely stunning !!! Amazing over/on water restaurants and the waitress was very kind and friendly. The water was crystal clear and blue! Overall this trip was unbelievable!!! So happy we did this!!

The tour was fantastic. The views from each location we went to were stunning. First the tour started off with getting a text the day before letting me know I'd be picked up by Red and Black tours by a certain time. Then our main guide was picked up and switched to be the driver of the trip. Driving took about 2.5 hours going. He took us through Albania to Macedonia customs then we did a full walk to all locations in Ohrid. We walked uphill, downhill, and on flat ground so make sure to have good walking shoes. When we went it was the final week of November 2025 so it was rather cold and windy. Make sure to bring a scarf to cover your face, a good jacket, and gloves because your hands and face will get super chilly. Our guide was awesome, he provided a lot of information and history on Macedonia and he gave us great recommendations for our free time activities. Our guide also kept us on time and made sure to answer any questions we had. I recommend this experience to anyone visiting Albania because Macedonia is quite close and there’s so much history and the views of the lake are stunning.

This is a decent option if your time is truly limited and you want a glimpse of North Macedonia. The local tour guide for Ohrid was definitely the highlight of the trip! She was very knowledgeable and managed the group very well. As advised, you definitely need good walking shoes to climb the many hills and steps of Ohrid. My group was large, probably 20-30 people. The bus was from Nela Travel & Tours. The pick-up and drop-off process was organized chaos and a little strange to be honest...I was assigned a taxi driver to take me to the bus in the morning, but the driver didn't know my name or where he was dropping me off. Very nerve wracking for a solo traveler especially since I didn't have his name or license plate number. In retrospect, the selected sites and time allotment could use improvement. The stop at Bay of the Bones was not meaningful since there was no time to go inside. There was also too much time dedicated to the Monastery of St Naum- it's a very small place and requires no more than 15-20 minutes to see everything. Driloni isn't actually part of the tour and I was confused as to why it was listed on the advertisement, but there's no time for it and it is not part of North Macedonia anyways, so this is a good thing!
