Novi Sad is the secret jewel of Serbia. This town is the perfect stop for someone looking for a break from the stress of the big city and in need for some fresh air and nice strolls. Sometimes called the ”Athens of Serbia”, Novi Sad is not lacking anything to rise to its nickname: a tumultuous history, the love for arts and festivals, a cool vibe and the pleasure of life. Declared as the European Youth Capital in 2019, the city will be the first Non EU city that will receive the title of European Capital of Culture in 2021. Join our private walking tour and learn and see why Novi Sad is a must for every traveller visiting Serbia: the Freedom Square with its landmark buildings like the Town Hall and the Name of Mary Church; the Bishop's Palace and its mixture of Romanticism and Secession styles; the Danube street filled with restaurants and cafes; the local Synagogue and its turbulent history; the famous fortress Petrovaradin, also called the ”Gibraltar on the Danube” and many more.

Unfortunately not a good experience. We were there overtime and tried to find another guide. Our guide Marko F. was shown to us by the other guides, but he actively avoided meeting us. We then saw him lead a group away from the synagogue. After 15 minutes after the agreed time, we tried unsuccessfully to contact him. After that we dialed the number of the organizer. A short time later we were contacted by a member of staff who told us that the guide would be late due to a medical emergency. The tour then started about 1 hour later. It may be that the guide was double booked and even emergencies can happen, but the least would have been to inform us. We then walked around in the greatest midday heat and tried to quell our anger. The tour was then also shorter than stated with our agreement. If we hadn't been on the phone, nothing would have happened and we would have had to deal with getting the money refunded. Too bad actually, the city is beautiful and we have seen interesting things.

My tour guide, Srdjan, tailored my tour based on my interests. His breadth of knowledge of Novi Sad, Serbian, Balkans and overall European history was astoundingly fantastic! I saw so much and learned so much more than I could have wandering around alone including random fun facts and sites like the unassuming, barely noticeable cannon ball imbedded on the outside of a building. He was highly professional, polite, considerate; his English is perfect which is great because I speak no Serbian and few people speak English in Novi Sad. I highly recommend his tour services!
