Unforgettable experience and memories. Crew was kind, helpful and welcoming. The group size is ideal and the price is quite amazing for what you get in return. I would certainly choose the operator again and i hope i will get a chance to snorkel with them in the future! We saw a turtle while snorkeling (🧡) and the Green Island stop was also quite relaxing with a lovely, paradise beaches. My fiancé had his first scuba dive experience and the attention and care he received from the instructor was great. Food, snacks and drink were also tasty and plenty, there is also an SPF available at all times to use as well as all the gear you need - so it is enough to just bring a smile :) and everything else will be taken care of by the crew. Overall this was one of, if not the best day of our Australian trip! Thank you to the crew for making it special.

Crew was attentive, knowledgeable, and the safety of passengers was their priority. I especially liked how they met the needs of my comfort level in the water by offering a guided snorkel experience.

I never write reviews but this had to be done...... Since I was tiny I have always dreamed of visiting the barrier reef. So when we planned our month in Australia it was a given. We searched for weeks and weeks at different operators and ocean freedom really stood out for us. We were pretty fussy about our trip and why not. Our priority was finding a reputable operator, with various options for activities throughout the day and most important to us, was that it was a small group. Our group consisted of myself, hubby and our 8 year old son. I am a water baby and spent my childhood swimming in the Atlantic on the SW coast of scotland, my son can swim to a point but needs a bit more help at times and hubby hates being in the sea so a good old mix. From check in to check out the crew really made our experience special. On our cruise out to the reef we were provided and fitted with all equipment. Each piece was in clean and great condition, crew checked every item fitted appropriately and had various options available. We visited 2 sites on the reef, both teaming with life. First stop was the reef wall, a bit deeper and maybe slightly choppy but hey... its the middle of the ocean and you just have to go with it. We went on the glass bottom boat where the crew member ( Luke i think) was extremely knowledgeable and never let us miss a thing. Upon return hubby and son went snorkling, where the crew both in water and on vessel were attentive and had a watchful eye at all times. My son needed a little help at times so stuck with dad and a crew member who gave him the help, guidance and reassurance he needed. Storm even went down and pointed out giant clams much to little ones delight. I did an introductory dive with Ollie and it was dream come true! He held a safety briefing where the equipment was explained and when it came to going "down" we went over the skills explained prior. The dive was phenomenal and Ollie pointed out everything so that I saw it all! Having never been under before I felt safe and free at all times. Lunch was served and it was a delicious mix of fresh salads, seafood, meats and various breads. Just what you need to fuel you. Next stop was equally as beautiful, it was much more shallow and calm. The coral here was spread out in clusters and was equally as beautiful. We snorked here and again the crew were on hand at all times to make sure you are safe and dont miss anything. Having had such a great experience in the morning I decided to do a second dive and im so glad I did. This time with Reece. He was super attentive and helped me when I couldn't stop water killing my mask. Apparently you cant have a happy face on a dive.... which is bloody hard when among such beauty! Once our time in the water ended the fun did not. The boat holds a permit allowing them to feed the fish, my son was delighted to see this ( as were we) , it was a very quick event but an unexpected surprise and not to be missed. Our cruise back to cairns was dreamy. Sun shining and full happy hearts.... to then be presented with cheese, crackera n cake. Overall if anybody is looking at a tour, especially those with kids or seeking a slightly more inclusive or intimate experience, please book ocean freedom. This day is most definitely and genuine one of the best i've had in my life ( only topped by wedding and birth of son!) My son spent the evening telling grandad about every fish he saw amd facts he'd retained. Even my totally "against sea swimming" hubby loved every second and smiled from ear to ear. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Ben and all the crew of ocean freedom. 🤘🐡🪸🐢😍

Enjoy every second of this amazing experience. The boat, the food, the snorkeling, diving, the safety to the amount of time you get in the water was brilliant. The crew go above and beyond to create a smooth and memorable day. They are friendly, kind, knowledgeable and super supportive. My kids requested to go again the next day even if it was just to visit the crew. Honestly the best day trip I have done since our regular visits to Cairns. We will definitely rebook on our next trip.

There a lot of tour operators that offer the same thing. This one could not have been better. The crew was fantastic. They were sensitive to the needs of the individual. Experienced to novice! The interaction, passenger concern and knowledge of the crew impressed us. The glass bottom boat went out a number of times for those who chose not to snorkel or dive. Safety was paramount and guides in the water pointing out reef fish and coral added to the experience. All of this without turning it into focusing on the photo op to sell you. Bravo Ocean Freedom.

We recently spent several days in Cairns for the primary purpose of going snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. We have snorkeled at many places around the world over the course of 30+ years. Accordingly, we booked 3 consecutive trips with 3 different companies. Altogether, we snorkeled 7 different spots on the reef. The weather was challenging on all three days with high wind and scattered showers. We were prepared for this and managed to complete the trips without getting sick. Check in was very easy and they boarded ahead of schedule, which was appreciated since it had started to rain. Cubby’s were available to store personal gear but they were on the upper deck, which was a little inconvenient, particularly when items were wet. The boat is mostly open deck with a small cabin in the front. It had just returned from maintenance but there was still visible wear and tear in the passenger areas. It was pretty crowded. The ride out and back was very rough. Probably half of the passengers were sick. Unfortunately, air sick bags were not provided and several passengers didn’t make it to the outside. We stopped at two spots. Both were poor for snorkeling. While the weather conditions contributed to this, the coral seemed too deep at both locations for good snorkeling. It may have been better for the divers. The currents were strong but the boat was positioned so that the swim away was upstream. This made returning easier and safer. The food service was OK. There were snacks in the morning and on the return trip. The lunch buffet was all cold items and chicken was limited to 1 piece. The advertised seafood was chilled prawns, which were good. The strength of this trip was the crew. They were all great…..friendly and hardworking through the adverse conditions. If not for them, I would have rated this trip lower. The was advertised as a “luxury” excursion and was priced accordingly. I don’t think it lived up to the advertising. The boat could use some TLC and the food was average. It’s not a bad trip but there are better.

Great tour! Unlike most snorkel tours where you only get around 30-45 min in the water, this one you have 2hr and 2 spots! Great food, wonderful guides and a once in a lifetime experience! Saw turtles, starfish, giant clams and tons of fish. Definitely recommend.

OceanFreedom run a fantastic trip to the reef! Great kit, and even better crew. You are really looked after, both in the water, and back on boat. The snorkelling itself is really safe and every opportunity taken to ensure that. On the boat there is plenty to eat and the boat was not overcrowded. Really enjoyed ourselves.

A very well organised tour and felt they maximised your time in the water whilst keeping everyone safe and taking care of the reef and animals. There was also plenty of food.
