What To Expect

Here guests will have a chance to visit a site, which is a church whose story began in 870.AD. In due course of its history, it was discovered that it was built upon the site of an ancient Roman temple that honoured apollo. In the 13th century it became the parish for fishermen in Marseille. This church has undergone various transformations, including getting morphed with the Sainte-Catherine chapel, robbed of all its treasures during the French revolution, being used as a military warehouse in 1794, and reopened again as a church in 1801. The architecture style is Romanesque-Provencale. This site, and the church standing on it has truly stood the test of time over decades, and remains standing today. A test of perseverance and patience.

Fort Saint-jean

I will guide you through through the Fort, showing and explaining its rich history that dates back a lot decades. The fort also offers amazingly good views of the Vieux Port, from a moderate point of elevation. On one side, the Fort is connected via a foot-bridge to Eglise Laurent, and other, the modern Mucem.

We have been all over the world and always book a walking tour to which ever city or place we visit. Anthony was an absolutely first class to guide. He created a tour which met our requests and his knowledge was absolutely superb. He has a wonderful passion for Marseille and his knowledge is outstanding. As a historian myself, I was impressed with his wider knowledge and ability to place Marseille in a wide historical context. In addition, he gave us advice of other areas we could visit on our own, different restaurants we might like to try. Nothing was too much trouble and quite simply he is a gentleman and you would be honoured to meet his acquaintance.

Fantastic immersion into the Marseilles culture and sights! Anthony was an impressive and brilliant guide... sharing all of his knowledge on Marseille. Our extended family group tour was amazing. Anthony was an incredible guide. He was impressively knowledgeable down to every historical detail of each site that we toured. We were passing through Marseille for a night and decided to do a day tour to explore the city. Tony was such a great guide,he made sure to take us to the most memorable places around the city,took amazing pictures for us and even took us to a local African café where we had some local dinner and drinks. He was so kind as to pick and drop us from our hotel as well. I would definitely recommend him as a guide,he knows the city so well.
