Street Kart Shibuya with Manuel was amazing! Manuel was an awesome and very safe guide. He clearly knew the route and the timing of the traffic lights, which made the ride smooth and stress-free. Seeing Tokyo from street level like this is something you’d never experience otherwise. He kept everyone together, communicated clearly the entire time, and made sure we all felt comfortable and safe. It was so much fun—exhilarating but well organized. A few important things to know before you go: Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before your departure time. Officially, they say 30 minutes, but if you’re navigating Tokyo trains, subways, and Google Maps, give yourself an extra 15 minutes. It’s very easy to miss a train or get turned around in a station. You must have an International Driving Permit (IDP). As soon as you make your reservation, Street Kart sends multiple emails explaining this—read them carefully and check your junk mail. We received clear advance notice. AAA issues IDPs in the U.S., but it can take time, especially if your group is spread out. Get this done well in advance. You must email them a copy of your IDP before leaving for Japan. This is an ADULT experience - if coming from the USA To drive, you need three things: • International Driving Permit • Valid U.S. driver’s license • Passport ON HAND at all times in Japan They are extremely organized. Check-in at the shop was efficient, with a safety video followed by a backup safety briefing. The vehicle technicians handled everything—orienting us to the kart and getting us in and out smoothly. Driving in Tokyo traffic was a bit overwhelming at first, but it was incredibly fun and totally worth it. This was a fantastic experience—but it’s not a last-minute activity. Plan everything before leaving the U.S., and you’ll have an unforgettable time!

Amazing time zipping around Shibuya with Ryuya! Plenty of photo opportunities including several around Shibuya crossing, photos are also taken by the guide and airdropped afterwards at key locations. Ryuya was extremely friendly and provided clear instructions through the use of hand signals. Would definitely recommend and if in Tokyo again would revisit.

This was hands down one of the most incredible experiences I had in Japan. Driving go-karts through the streets of Tokyo and crossing the iconic Shibuya Crossing felt unreal, like being inside a movie. Manuel was extremely professional, friendly, and organized. He explained everything clearly, made sure we felt safe, and was amazing the entire time. The route was perfect, taking us through some of the most famous areas, and seeing Tokyo from this perspective was unforgettable. Driving through Shibuya while people waved, took photos, and cheered was such a fun and unique feeling. The karts were easy to drive, well-maintained, and the whole experience felt safe but exciting. If you’re visiting Japan and want something truly unique, thrilling, and memorable, this is an absolute must do. I would 100% do it again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo!

We were a bit nervous to start but our guide, salaam, put us at ease. He gave clear instructions and like he said you do get used to the cart after a little while. We did a 10am ride and the traffic conditions were light. We had a blast and would highly recommend it.

A Tokyo must do! Something you won't do anywhere else and a highlight for any visit. Well organised and the dress up in your chosen character adds a spark. Make sure to sort your international driving license and insurance that includes go-karts beforehand.

We booked a 3-person go-karting experience in Shibuya for $382 and were unable to participate because an International Driving Permit is legally required in Japan. Unfortunately, this requirement is only mentioned in the “Additional Information” section and is not clearly surfaced during the booking process as a mandatory prerequisite. Because we could not legally take part, we canceled and requested a refund or partial credit, which was denied despite not being late or changing plans. Disappointing experience and poor customer service given the cost and circumstances.
