Narikala Fortress
The tour begins by visiting Narikala fortress, where we will take the cable car and move up to the fortress and enjoy with its amazing architecture and historical sites. According the history the structure was established in the 4th century as a Sasanian citadel called Shuris-tsikhe ( "Invidious Fort"). It was considerably expanded by the Umayyads in the 7th century and later, by king David the Builder (1089–1125). The Mongols renamed it "Narin Qala" (i.e., "Little Fortress"). Most of extant fortifications date from the 16th and 17th centuries. In 1827, parts of the fortress were damaged by an earthquake and demolished. Guests can walk around the castle. From Narikala Fortress you can see two extremely different views. On the one side of the wall you can see a busy, hestic city and on the other side a quiet, peaceful forest known as the Botanical Garden.
Kartlis Deda
The statue was erected on the top of Sololaki hill in 1958.In 1958 Tbilisi celebrated its 1500th anniversary. Prominent Georgian sculptor Elguja Amashukeli designed the twenty-metre aluminium figure of a woman in Georgian national dress. She symbolizes the Georgian national character: in her left hand she holds a bowl of wine to greet those who come as friends, and in her right hand is a sword for those who come as enemies.

Lely was a wonderful guide around the city. She was very knowledgeable and patient with us, as we are little bit older and needed a couple of breaks to rest. Lely made the tour very interesting and showed us some beautiful areas of the city which was even more beautiful at night!

Our tour guide was wonderful. So much local knowledge, but always checked how much we wanted to know. Her English was native level immaculate (despite it being her fourth language!!). She was native Georgian (we even bumped into her mother!) and had so many insights into this country’s rich history and culture. The wine tasting was amazing.

We had a great day with Lela. She was a great guide and a lovely human being. She was knowledgeable, sympathetic and patient with us. She adjusted the tour to our pace and was flexible with our extra requests. She picked a great place for lunch and we had a great day thanks to her. We learned a lot about Tbilisi and Georgia through her. The van she arranged for us was comfortable as well. Overall, we had a great time with her, we would highly recommend her to anyone who is visiting Georgia.

If you are planning a trip to Georgia, do yourself a favor and book with We Are Georgia Tours. We’ve traveled quite a bit, but the level of hospitality and organization we experienced here was on another level. What truly made our trip special was our guide, Luka. He doesn’t just recite facts; he tells stories. His deep understanding of Georgian history, religion, and culture made every building and monument come alive. We saw the famous sites, but Luka also took us to local family-run spots that we never would have found on our own. Georgia is a beautiful country, but it’s the people who make it legendary. Thank you, We Are Georgia Tours, and a massive thanks to Luka for making our vacation so memorable.

A guide makes a difference. Our guide, Layla, made our time in Tbilisi special. She is experienced, warm and friendly. She knows everyone and about everything in Tbilisi Old Town. First, take the tour but as important, take the tour with Layla.
