Was prompted to Visit Chateau Tanunda while we were in Barossa following an endorsement of their Shiraz by Ricky Gervais. Had a great tasting experience with detailed commentary by our host Alex. Alex was passionate about winery and provided an insight into each one. We had no intention initially but walked out buying a dozen mixed bottles. Well worth the visit as the property and surroundings are also beautiful.

Popped in for a tasting, and had a fantastic experience. Beautiful venue, gorgeous wines, but best of all was the service. Vickie was informative, knowledgeable and friendly. We learnt about the wines, but also the history of the Vineyard and Barossa region. Thank you Vickie.

Fulfilled my desire to taste Shiraz from not just Old Vines but Centenarian and even Ancestor (Vines from 1889 and older) at the fantastic session with Ian at Chateau Tanunda. From the get-go, he could tell that we were serious about learning about wines and he was very flexible and super generous; he kept coming forth with bottle after bottle, each time a step above until we reached the pinnacle, having the privilege to taste the1858 Field Blend, 2018 vintage. We couldn't decide between the 2021 50 year old and 100 year old vines 2020 Shiraz, and considering that we are holidaying from overseas with limited allocation allowed to bring back home, we still decided to allocate 2 slots to Chateau Tanunda and bought them both! The tasting was the last day of our time in Barossa and Ian's wonderful hosting ensured we finished off on a high note. But just when we thought it couldn't get better, we stumbled upon the 2 winemakers hanging around the fermentation tanks and barrels and they were so friendly and it was brilliant having them stick their arms into the barrels, grabbing bunches of grapes allowing us to sniff them. Another highlight of our time here. Thanks team Chateau Tanunda, you're among the 3 Best experiences we had on our wine trip to South Oz!

Even if you a not a wine lover, this is a must stop just to take in the history of the vineyard, building and surrounds. There are a number of things to read and view without drinking, so it’s definitely worth the stop, even if you have kids with you. There is a fantastic range of wines on offer so take your time and enjoy your flight.

A must visit winery & caller door for anyone who loves wine. The place itself has an amazing history and heritage. Amy was such a wonderful and entertaining host. She is passionate about wine and her job. She is so knowledgeable of the history of the place and the whole winemaking process. We did the “Old Vine” expressions tasting and thought it was an amazing selection of premium wines to taste.
