Join us on this 4-hour excursion to the amazing Briksdal Glacier. After driving through the small village of Olden, we continue on our way to Briksdal. We drive through the Olden Valley, passing the beautiful Olden Lake. When our bus reaches the Briksdal Inn, you can start the hike towards Briksdal Glacier, which is one of many arms of the famous Jostedal Glacier.
The hike up to Briksdal Glacier takes you through a beautiful scenery surrounded by waterfalls and mountains. Finally, you will reach the viewpoint at the lake of the glacier. The first part of the hike is the hardest, and it gets gradually easier. The walk to the glacier normally takes around 45-60 minutes.

This trip was cancelled twice by two different tour operators that I booked through Viator. The second booking was cancelled the evening before!!! They said there was not enough take up. I now know why. They were charging over £300 for 3 people when we got the same deal for £120 by booking with olden experiences directly. Luckily my husband found them online after I was so upset about the possibility of missing out again. No wonder no one was booking. What a rip off. Glad I got a refund and saved money. The glacier hike was amazing and I had money in my pocket to get a coffee !! I would recommend the experience but not through Viator.

This is basically transportation to/from the Briksdal glacier with some narration along the way. Once the bus arrives at the base of the hike up to the lake from which you can see the glacier, you’re on your own. It took us about an hour to hike up the well-trodden path on a drizzly cool day, and about 45 minutes back down. The bus and guide wait for you at the base, where there is a gift shop and cafeteria. It’s pretty spectacular scenery and well worth seeing. On the drive back, we stopped for 10 minutes to take photos. I’m told there is a city bus that makes the same trip for a fraction of the cost.

Nice tour, well organized, plenty of time at the glacier. Good commentary. The hike to the glacier is moderately strenuous.

Great views of the glacier. The walkway is gravel and does have a pretty good incline there. Wear layers as you will shed some during the day. If you want to take the troll car - order days ahead because there were none available when we got there. The complete hike (to/fro) took us 2 hours with brief stops. The guide gave us some history but I would have enjoyed more. It was just a lovely day.

On reaching the top where the glacier is we felt so proud of our achievement. It was a very steep climb but well worth it once you got to the glacier lake.We took lots of pictures of the beautiful scenery and rock foundations and a selfie with the mountain and glacier full of snow behind us.The weather was beautiful the week we were in Norway .There was a lovely shop at the base with a cafe and plenty of clean toilets .We were on a cruise but we booked the bus on the Quay side which was really easy and at least a third of the price charged by Cruise ship

Our driver met us at the cruise ship dock and gave us an explanation of what we should expect, and approx times. The drive up to the drop-off point was a lovely journey through the local landscape. The initial hike up the trail got increasingly easier, but, WOW, what views. large waterfalls and other white water accompanied us all the way to the glacial lake and stunning view of the glacier. Gentle walk back down to the Cafe, and gift shop and we met up with our driver at the appointed time and had a relaxing drive back to Olden

Took the coach through Olden, up through the valley of picturesque lakes, green pastures and pretty houses to Briksdal glacier. The terminus is effectively a visitor centre with 2 cafés, shops, toilets etc. We hired a “troll car” - a big chauffeured open buggy - to take us 75% of the way. The walk is lovely but steep. Then went up to the bottom of the glacier where meltwater enters the raging stream. The views all around are spectacular.

Our excursion to the Glacier was perfect! We met our tour operator Elisabet right at the terminal. We took a very comfortable bus to the base of the glacier where we then hiked for about 45 mins to the glacier. The walk was not too strenuous and very beautiful. Elisabet was very knowledgeable and ensured that we had a very enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this tour with Elisabet!!

Beautiful hike. Be prepared for hills by layering. You will get warm, but up top it’s cold by the glacier.
