5.00We booked the ‘On Dracula’s Footsteps’ tour and Alina, our guide, and Gabriel, our driver, picked us up at our Airbnb right on time. We were the only ones who booked the tour that day so it was private and we moved at our own (faster) pace. Our first stop was Targoviste to visit the church, court and the tower. After leaving we headed to Poenari Fortress (about 2 hours driving). Alina walked the 1480 steps with us and we all enjoyed spectacular views at the top. Alina was an excellent guide as she gives you space to wander around if you want, but yet is always nearby to answer questions. After the descent we visited the restaurant at the foot of the hill, which was excellent. Our last stop was a monastery on the drive back and it was absolutely stunning. This is a well balanced tour between car time and activity. Some tours are very heavy with driving time and you feel as if most of the day was in the car, but this was not. They plan it well so the stops are spaced out and you don’t get bored or overwhelmed with activities. I highly recommend booking a tour with Authentic Romania. The communication and service are excellent!
