What To Expect

Master the theory and technique of climbing and skiing in various conditions and terrains. You will learn the basics of ski touring for confident climbs and turns on snow. Get to know the equipment and technique of ski touring and thus make it easier to decide if this is the sport of your future. CONTENTS OF OUR WORKSHOP: - Equipment for ski touring - Avalanche rescue equipment - Technique and tactics of ascent and descent - Dangers in the mountains in winter - Cross section of snow cover and types of snow base - Snowpack stability tests - Correct procedures in the event of an accident - search with avalanche beacons, probes and mountain rescue service We will start the day with theoretical part, which will be carried out in the premises of Kofler sport in Mojstrana. After that, we will go to a suitable field, where we will use the newly acquired knowledge in practice. LOCATIONS: We will hold workshops in Karawanks, especially in the area of the Upper Sava Valley and above Jesenice, or in the Julian Alps in the area of Pokljuka and again in the Upper Sava Valley.

Kofler Sport is dedicated, well organised and experienced Agency for Outdoor Activities in Mountains. I did an avalanche prevention course and it was very useful. We went to Austrian Mountains (Obertauern) as in Slovenia snow conditions were poor. I recommend taking part in their activities as you will get the best out of it.
