Your first certification is a license to learn more! Performance-based, after this course you will have the knowledge and skills to plan and execute a dive to a maximum of 18 meters with a certified buddy.
Day 1 - Academics + Diving
Meet your instructor, fellow students and start the first academic session. Short break for lunch before jumping into your confined skills session for the afternoon.
Day 2 - Academics + Diving Skills
Start academic session in the morning before heading for the afternoon boat for confined water training skills dives 1 and 2 with a maximum depth of 12m at 2 different dive sites around Koh Tao.
Day 3 - Diving + Exam
Enjoy 2 dives at a maximum depth of 18 meters, which is the maximum allowed for an open water diver! On some of the best dive sites around Koh Tao, last day is purely fun diving, no training, no exercises, just diving! After completing your last 2 dives we will be doing the final exam at the school!

5.00A million thanks to Malcolm for an amazing 3-day SSI Open Water course at Koh Tao Scuba Club! Professional, positive, fun, and super well-structured - exactly the kind of instructor you hope to have for your first serious diving experience. Even in our group of four, everyone got plenty of individual attention, which made a huge difference and helped us feel safe and confident. The skills training in the pool and later in open water at a depth of 6 meters was clear, gradual, and very well supervised. Malcolm was endlessly patient, even when something didn’t work out several times in a row. What impressed me the most was his empathy and ability to notice someone’s worries even before they fully realized it themselves - that’s next-level pro stuff. I’m really glad I had the chance to learn from the best and to discover the underwater world without fear. There was definitely fear before diving into the unknown ocean at 12 and 18 meters for the first time, but the clear diving plan, instructions, and great underwater communication left no room for doubts – only space for excitement and wonder. Thanks for “infecting” me with this new addiction – diving will now make all my future travels even more exciting! If I’m lucky enough to return to Koh Tao one day, I’ll definitely come back for more lessons or a fun dive with Malcolm. Greetings from Lithuania! 🇱🇹 P.S. 5.00I completed both my Open Water and Advanced courses with Oni, and it was an excellent experience. He strikes the perfect balance between being fun and being a strict, disciplined instructor. He focuses strongly on the lessons that truly matter while diving and never compromises on safety. I also loved diving with the team and am very happy to be certified under his guidance.

5.00Had a fantastic experience doing my open water with KTSC. Saw so many fish and corals which I had never seen before. Our instructor Sophie kept everything super safe and fun all the time, and her enthusiasm for diving was infectious!!
