Musee de l’Orangerie
Situated in the beautifully manicured Tuileries Gardens, the Orangerie transformed into a museum in the early 20th century when Paris’s over-crowded museums needed new galleries. The Orangerie most famously houses the series of various waterlilies Monet granted to France thanks to his friendship with George Clemenceau, which earned their own private gallery space. The expansive collection of 19th century and early 20th century paintings features works by other famous Impressionists and those who came after. View Cezanne’s studies of fruits and flowers, seductive portraits by Matisse, and various phases of Picasso’s career through several nudes. Other artists including Modigliani, Renoir, and Utrillo, all make the Orangerie a must-visit for anyone who appreciates French art and the Impressionist movement.

We have visited Paris four times but the tour of Le Orangerie was by far the highlight of them all. Dunja was a brilliant tour guide - incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about art and very engaging. We loved the way in which she was able to locate the art in the context of social history. And of course the art works are amazing!

This is a wonderful museum to visit especially if you love Claude Monet’s work. Such a fabulous display of his huge waterlilies. A great experience! Emma was our very knowledgeable guide who explained in great detail the Monet works and other art displayed in the museum.

Excellent tour. This is a smaller museum but with a beautiful and exciting collection. Less crowded than the louvre and orsay which really improved the experience. We really appreciated the expertise and knowledge of our tour guide who made it a wonderful and enriching experience for us. Romain from Babylon tours was friendly, organized and ad did a great job explaining the history of the water lily paintings of Monet , and introducing us to the artworks of Derain, Soutine, Laurencin and Rousseau. His passion and expertise were evident and we learned a lot from having him as our guide. We highly recommend this tour.
