Our tour guide was Dr. Sam Day. It was a rainy morning on this relatively warm November day when we started the tour. However, we soon forgot to notice the weather as we were teleported to a different world by Dr.Sam Day (not Dave). A world in the past which obliterated the present. His deeply acquired knowledge combined with his love (fun) of imparting a tiny fraction of that knowledge in a 2.30hrs tour made all the difference to our experience of Oxford. We have been to many tours (Oxford and elsewhere) but none that left such an impact on us. Certainly none that made us laugh out loud as much either. Listening to him was akin to watching Hamilton but the impact was more… the streets of Oxford of erstwhile years started rolling in our minds’ eye like an animated film with the imagery expertly painted by the words of Dr. Sam Day. He kept us captivated for 2.30 hrs. We barely realised how time flew. His narrative of the impact of Archbishop Thomas Cranmer as we stood in Radcliffe Square with the Radcliffe Camera behind and the University Church before….. left an indelible mark on us. I wish I had better mastery of the English language to adequately express how incredible our experience was due to our guide Dr. Sam Day but this is all I could muster. We talked about Dr. Sam Day’s tour through the rest of the day. We know we will talk about it in the days to come. We know we will recall it in the years that will follow. Much gratitude, Sulata (and Shyam) from Sevenoaks, Kent.

Hats off to our tour guide Sam Day who kept us mesmerised for a full two and a half hours of Oxford walking tour, transported us to early days of history, effortlessly recounting some of the horrific tales during the initial years of Oxford and several events and personalities that originated here and shaped the English history. A scholar from Oxford himself since 2017, Sam kept us engrossed with tales and annecdotes from his own experiences, passionately weaving stories of the University colleges skillfully entwining history with current facts laced by humour and wit that was so unique. Thanks so much to Sam, we had a wonderful time. We highly recommend his tour to everyone who is planning to visit

Sam Day was knowledgeable but more important - very enthusiastic about guiding us through the history of Oxford. It was 2.5 hours of mesmerising talk where we could not but only fathom how it would have been since the city was formed to where it has come. we lost count of time, till we realized we have come to the end and the 2.5hr were sheer bliss.

Our Oxford walking tour led by Sam Day was fantastic. He really had his work cut out for him, the weather was miserable - it rained from the moment the tour started. Despite this, Sam kept us all engaged which I’m sure was no easy feat. Sam was so knowledgeable, it’s unbelievable one person could hold so much information about so many different places! It’s clear how passionate Sam is about the university and its history and Oxford as a whole. We are very glad we got to experience this tour. Brooke and Ry from Australia 🇦🇺
