Wow! Our warm welcome started with Dave picking us up to drive us to meet our horses. On the way up the mountain, he regaled us with knowledge about the area, the people, history, and the flora and fauna. We arrived and met our horses and guides and saddled up with graciously loaned cowboy hats and friendly chuchos following with the hopes of getting leftovers. After an easy and pleasant ride up Pacaya, we stopped, hopped off the horses and made our way up the lava fields to the small Lava store with magnets, holiday ornaments and other items. Then we headed over to our makeshift dining area of lava rocks and soon dined on the scrumptious made-to-order pizza baked over the volcano Pacaya’s geothermal heat. It was honestly one of the best pizzas we’ve had! Then we roasted our own marshmallows over the heat vent for delicious s’mores and headed back down the volcano in horseback. Everything was well thought out with waters, food, masks in case the dust bothered us, hats, napkins, cushions, and more. The guides always were checking to ensure we were comfortable and felt safe and well. We highly recommend this outing. It was a delicious adventure of a lifetime!

The excursion overall was just okay. The horses themselves were not the best experience—mine had a hard time listening and would randomly speed up and slow down on its own, which caused me to almost fall off a few times. It didn’t feel very controlled or safe at moments. The bigger issue was what happened after. I accidentally left my phone in the car after being dropped off at my Airbnb and notified the excursion host less than 5 minutes later. From there, communication was poor. I was sent to the wrong location to retrieve my phone, which led to unnecessary stress and confusion. I ended up having to essentially track down the vehicle myself in a country I’m not familiar with. This meant paying for an Uber to the incorrect location, then walking another 15 minutes before finally getting my phone back. This was especially frustrating considering I had already left a $40 USD tip for the driver. Overall, I would strongly suggest they improve communication and their process for handling lost items, because that experience was far more stressful than it needed to be.

Best service we’ve had during our stay in Antigua! Came directly to our door to pick us up. Treated us very well and made sure we made it safe there and back! The horses are so docile and obedient, perfect for first time riders! Guy and Oscar were our host/guide, truly the best of the best. We loved that all of the proceeds go to the horses! I’ve had a love for horses since a young age and truly felt at peace knowing these majestic animals are taken care of!!!

We could t have been luckier to get the best guide in all of Central America: Guy the Canadian Cowboy! He was nothing short of impressive with all of his hard and backed facts about topography, geography and historical Mayan knowledge. He went above and beyond to provide us with front door pick up /drop off and drink accommodations on truck ride to the volcano! He was also very entertaining and took lots of great pictures for us on the horses! We had a true Guatemalan cowgirl experience we all will never forget! The views were incredible and the horses were the sweetest and tamest! We recommend it for everyone!!

Our tour guide was Guy and he was great!! We did a morning tour to Pacaya Volcano on horseback. He made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to and from the volcano. Not to mention he also gave us a great list of recommended spots to check out in Antigua. Highly recommend booking your next tour with him ☺️

So. Much. Fun! Dave, aka Alaska, was such a treat! He was so knowledgeable about the amazingness of Guatemala and had such great stories to tell about Nikki (the owner of the animal reserve the tour is done through). What their organization is doing is truly inspiring and warmed my heart to hear how well the animals are preserved and cared for. Their work transcends beyond helping tourists see the beauty of Antigua. They are truly changing the lives of so many animals and it’s inspiring. The tour was a blast! And to eat pizza and s’mores made with the lava coals from the volcano?! Come on! And the pizza was super good too! The horses were beautiful and gentle. And most importantly, you learn SO much! Thank you to Nikki, Dave and the awesome cowboys for fitting us in and making it such a memorable experience! We look forward to next time!

These guys made my Christmas Day. Guy, the guide, was great. As a solo female, I felt comfortable and safe the entire time. I’m very happy I chose this small, intimate tour over some of the larger, less personal tours. I highly recommend this tour.

Such a great experience! Definitely had everything covered. Our guide was super informative and very knowledgeable about the land. His timing was perfect and I would highly recommend this adventure. The horses were taken care of and super fun to ride. The cowboy even took photos of us and shared them all at the end.

The route is beautiful, with stunning landscapes and a calm atmosphere that allows you to fully enjoy the journey.😊😊 We would especially like to highlight Guy, this wonderful person who was very attentive and kind throughout the entire activity, His support, willingness to help, and knowledge made the experience even more enjoyable and safe. He was always attentive to the group and made everyone feel confident at all times. Thanks to Mary, Gimy and Gustavo. Without a doubt, this is an activity we highly recommend, both for the experience itself and for the excellent service provided. A truly worthwhile adventure.👌❤️❤️
