Lake Arenal
We wil pass over the Lake Arenal Dam. Arenal Lake is a breathtaking man-made lake located in northern Costa Rica, at the base of the iconic Arenal Volcano. Spanning approximately 85 square kilometers (33 square miles), it is the largest lake in the country and a crucial source of hydroelectric power, supplying nearly 70% of Costa Rica’s renewable energy. Beyond its ecological and economic importance, Arenal Lake is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The lake’s calm yet expansive waters are perfect for activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, jet skiing, and boat tours. Its strong winds from December to April also make it one of the best spots in the country for windsurfing and kiteboarding. Surrounded by lush rainforest, rolling hills, and stunning volcano views, the lake is home to an abundance of wildlife, including howler monkeys, toucans, and various species of freshwater fish. If you want an authentic and beautiful experience book with Pacos. Horses are beautiful and well cared for. Entire experience was incredible, included beautiful jungle walk and ride through a river. Staff was kind, went above and beyond to take pictures using our phones and whole experience for kids ages 7-10 and adults was amazing. Thank you for a great experience. Recommend reaching out directly to Pacos to book, we included lunch and did self-guided hanging bridges (this was a great experience but was raining so didn't see much wildlife - no fault of company.) Great communication with company through explorearenal and they were beyond patient with all my questions.

This activity was absolutely beautiful—highly recommended! I have to admit, I was very scared before and throughout the entire experience, but Alonso was amazing. Without me even saying anything, he noticed how I felt and stayed by my side the whole time. He kept encouraging me, guiding me, and accompanying me along the ride. He also took lots of photos for everyone, not just me, which was such a thoughtful touch—especially considering we were a large group. The horses were beautiful and clearly very well taken care of. I also noticed an older woman in our group, and the team helped her get on the horse and made sure she was comfortable the entire time. They truly made the experience enjoyable and safe for everyone. The price is definitely worth it for what you get. The ride includes going up and down hills, crossing a river, and even a short break with a snack and an incredible view of the volcano. What more could you ask for? It was a wonderful experience—don’t miss it!

My family and I had an amazing experience with Paco‘s horses. The guides were so kind, and the horses were obviously well taken care of, and enthusiastic about showing us through the hillside.. we couldn’t have asked for a more fun experience!

Today we had a horseback riding tour with Pacos Horses. The tour guide and the other staff were extremely helpful in making sure that everyone was comfortable with their horse and that the helmets were on appropriately. They assisted me with mounting and getting off my horse. The horses were calm and tame knew where they were going and what the assignment was. Easy ride for people that are not confident on a horse. The guide took plenty of videos and pictures especially when we were in the river and in front of the volcano. We had a short break in the middle and we were given fresh fruit and water. It was a great experience.

We really enjoyed our rides with Pacos. The horses are well trained and took us through jungle trails and rivers to beautiful locations. It was nice to be out of the sun in the jungle where it was cooler and pleasant . The guides are very friendly taking pictures throughout and making the experience safe and fun. The helmets were appreciated for extra safety. The last part of the tour up the mountain for a direct view of the volcano and fruit and water provided was super. There’s a nice breeze up there so it’s scenic and relaxing. I highly recommend this operation and will gladly come again. Monika and Sarah Lige. March, 2026.

A great experience. My husband has not been on a horse before and he felt perfectly safe. It was good to have a drink and snack break. The horses were totally in control and knew what they were doing! Good fun

I really liked the route, the treatment was amazing. Very skilled, friendly and respectful people. Animals are well "kept", meek and very intelligent. Thanks Pacos'
