This is an event for a group of people, which can be customized for you. For example, a celebration of a special day, or simply a moment of conviviality between friends. The workshop takes place in the artist's art studio and is guided by the artist. If you are a wine fan, you can enjoy a glass of Portuguese-made wine during the class.

What To Expect
Come and discover the traditional and contemporary techniques of tiled painting in a relaxed and creative environment! In this workshop you will create your own hand-painted tiles - no experience is required. What do we do? - Know the history of tiles - Learn basic painting techniques - Create a unique piece 1. We will make a brief presentation on tiles in Portuguese culture 2. Technical demonstration: Explanation of materials: brushes, pigments, tiles - Demonstration of basic techniques (glass painting, patterns, lines and fillings) 3. Individual creation: Participants sketch and paint their own tiles - Individual accompaniment during the process. 4. Conclusion: Sharing of the created pieces. Note: The traditional Portuguese technique of tile painting, as it has been performed for centuries, includes cooking in a high temperature oven (minimum 24h). We privileged this technique for its authenticity, but we also offer a faster option, without cooking, for those who want to take the piece on the day itself. The delivery of cooked tiles is combined directly with the participant.

The activity includes all materials and two 15x15 tiles to paint with cooking included.

Owner is very nice, helpful and makes learning how to do this a good experience My only concern was that I didn’t realize it wouldn’t be a finished product and we could take it with us. You either have to go back and pick it up, have it ubered to you or shipped to your home, at your cost

5.00Cristina was excellent. She gave a short history of tiles and the art of them. She explained how the tiles are different than those found elsewhere. Then we got right to design and painting. She has a huge selection of stencils, or you can freehand. We did both. My often unimpressed 13 yo had a ton of fun. We were able to pick up our tiles 3 days later - so do it at the start of your holiday (she can also ship, but save the $). We are so happy to have this fond memory and are using our tiles in our dining room daily. Strongly recommend this fun activity

5.00My daughter enjoyed paint tiles with Mrs. Christina. We are not painters , but she helped bring out your creative skills. It was wonderful painting tiles the traditional Portugal way. FYI please have enough time so she can heat the tile 700 degrees.

5.00Wonderful time creating our own tiles with Christine—and several other new acquaintances from Austria, Netherlands, and India. Christine guided us through the process step-by-step. She has many patterns you can use or create your own, traditional, contemporary or scenic. She has also created wonderful paintings of which you can buy a reproduction—we did. You can also buy a cork panel to make the tile into a trivet or have the tiles framed. Book ahead for the workshop. It’s worth it.

5.00The teacher is very nice and patient. It’s a good value class as you have 2h30 to paint two tiles and she will even deliver the tile to you if you’re still in town. Very fun and rewarding experience!
