Step into the streets of Paris and understand what it truly meant to live here during the occupation. This World War II walking tour gives you a clear mental map of occupied Paris, following a coherent route through the city center so you never feel lost—historically or geographically.
As you walk, you won’t just hear stories. You will stand exactly where events unfolded and learn how these places functioned between 1940 and 1944.
At each stop, you’ll discover how Parisians lived day to day, how German power was organized in the city, and how political control shaped everyday life. The focus is on precise locations and concrete facts, helping you understand why these places mattered—and still matter.
To help you visualize the past, the tour uses rare archival photographs, many unfamiliar even to history enthusiasts. You will directly compare wartime images with today’s streets, giving you a much clearer and more lasting understanding of what Paris looked like under occupation.

I joined the Paris Occupation history tour as a solo traveler. It was such an interesting time! You rarely see tours covering this topic. We walked the areas where the Nazis stayed and based their headquarters of Paris occupation. Margaux showed us photos of how things looked during the occupation as we stood in front of the buildings that are still in use today. She told us story after story of the Nazi occupation especially the early days from the angle of the Nazis and from the Parisian citizens. Definitely deepened my knowledge of that time but also of the area around the 1st, 2nd & 9th arrondissements. I love having more stories about the people and history as I walk around the buildings and spaces of Paris. Thank you Margaux!

Very knowledgeable about the Occupation. Standing in the same spot as the historic pictures she shared with the small group on her tablet made the experience even more real.

I am a WWII buff and if you are too, this is a great tour. It was a 2+ hour walk around the vibrant, beautiful city of Paris (even without the tour guide speaking, the sights are great) and learn how it was during the Nazi occupation. History comes alive on this tour, you really can imagine what it was like during the 4 years of occupation. As so many countries (mine (USA) included) inch towards fascism, it is so important to remember what happened 80+ years ago. Seeing Paris today it is hard to believe it ever happened but there are signs everywhere that it did and this tour points them out. Never forget.
