Explore the pristine Piatra Craiului National Park on this private day hiking tour from Brașov. With an expert guide, head to Romania’s Carpathian Mountains and follow one of two 5- to 7-hour routes, according to the weather and your group’s preferences. Depending on your route, cross the narrow Zarnesti Gorge, walk through forests and meadows, learn about local industries such as mountain shepherding and cheese-making, and visit mountain villages or a mountain hut for a rustic lunch. Numbers are limited to eight people to ensure a personalized experience. Entrance fees not included.
The name of the mountain came from one of the citadels built by the Hungarian Kingdom, as a custom, control and protection point, at the southern border of Transylvania, at the bottom of the mountains, at the end of XIV century. The name of the citadel in German language was Königstein.
The locals called the mountain The Stone (Piatra).

5.00We ( 7 friends ) had a fantastic walk with Itsi our guide. We had opted for the more challenging ridge route when booking but after discussions with Itsi we switched to the easier mountain village walk . It was an 18k hike stopping at a fantastic village restaurant where we sat on the terrace enjoying wonderful views of the mountains. This ended up being the highlight of our walk , enjoying wonderful food and soaking up the views. Itsi was friendly and informative and the booking was easy also picking us from our apartment. Would really recommend this walk and it’s not too challenging all for those with reasonable fitness.

5.00I signed up for this with Active Travel and Bogdan was my guide. Bogdan is part mountain goat and part life philosopher. He tested me out a bit before deciding I was up for the steeper part involving cables or more hands on climbing. It was beyond what I normally do but it was very rewarding. Out of the comfort zone but in the best way possible. Bogdan was excellent. Tips, encouragement the whole lot. I was busted at the end of the day but it was a super experience.

5.00I had a wonderful experience on this trek. I went with a guide from Active Travel. The guide was very pleasant company and gave lots of useful information about the region. The views were amazing and we even spotted a young bear in the forest. Highly recommend!

5.00We wanted to go hiking in the mountains of Transylvania, we went to the activ travel agency in Brasov who found us a route, an English-speaking guide and a date for the next day for the national Park craiuli, great performance. The guide the next day, led us to the departure of walk. And accompanied us in sumptuous landscapes, magnificent limestone gorges, sumptuous forests, beech first, then climbing spruce, larch and fir trees and finally magnificent pastures. The Mihai guide was perfect, considerate, professional and We had a very interesting conversation on a lot of topics, we didn’t see time pass. Recommended.

5.00We did a one day hike with Mihai. The pace of the hike was great, Mihai stopped to explain the history, fauna and flora of the mountains. He made sure the hike was enjoyable and he took good care of us throughout the entire hike.
