Toconao (Kunza Rincón perdido) enchants for its simplicity, calm of its people, special climate, beautiful architecture and crafts; We will visit the marginal area of the Salar de Atacama known as Laguna Chaxa located in Sector Soncor R.N.L. F. Later we headed towards the South East (Cordillera de los Andes) to settle in a Socaire Altiplanic Town, we visited its Church and learned about its agriculture. Once installed in the cordon of the Andes we headed approx. At 4200 masl to meet the Miscanti and Meñiques Lagoons. These lagoons belong to the R. N. Los F., characterized by volcanoes and mountainous reliefs such as the Miscanti hill and the Meñiques volcano. Both lagoons are born from groundwater from melting ice. Continuing along the slopes of the South Andes we head to the Salar de Talar Touristically known as Piedras Rojas, where the rocks are subjected to natural oxidation and weathering.

Lovely day. Great guide Paula, very informative. Very cold in the morning then hot later so take appropriate clothes and plenty of water. High altitudes. Great breakfast and lunch! Hoped to see more flamingoes

Great tour, it packs a lot of sites into one day, but they are all amazing places to visit. Nice food provided, and the guide was great!

Fantastic full day experience. Felipe the guide was really knowledgeable at every sight. The places we visited were breathtaking, the food was excellent - both the breakfast and the restaurant lunch. The whole day was really enjoyable. Would really recommend it.

Beautiful scenery, great experience and lots of knowledgeable info provided by our guide, Duncan. Learned many new things and reminded of what we forgot to retain in school. Breakfast and lunch were more than we expected. Freshly prepared and delicious.

My wife and I took 4 tours from San Pedro de Atacama in 3 days with Whipala Expedition: 1. Rainbow Valley (morning) and Moon Valley (afternoon) 2. Piedras Rojas + Altiplanic Lagoons 3. Geysers del Tatio This order of tours is typical, because each day increases in altitude. We also did a self-guided hiking tour of Pukará de Quitor on the day we arrived (before the first day of touring with Whipala) and another self-guided hike to the south of San Pedro on our last day (in the afternoon when we returned from the Geysers). All of the tours and guides were great. We really enjoyed each of the destinations, and appreciated the care and knowledge of the tour guides. We were very happy to be driven and guided by local professionals, especially because a couple of times we saw other tourists get their vehicles stuck on the roads while trying to do self-drive adventures. The landscapes are spectacular! In addition, we saw many different kinds of birds and mammals, including flamingos, coots, condors, eagles, vicuñas, guanacos, llamas, foxes (zorros), rabbits, donkeys, and a little desert mouse. We also enjoyed interacting with the other folks on the tours.

We did a few excursions in this area and this one was relaxed - good for active older folks as well. Enjoyed a light breakfast in the valley with the colourful sunrise. Saw several beautiful lagoons with mountain scenery. Saw salt flats with flamingos. Saw animals during the rush trips. Visited a small town for lunch. The absolute highlight was Daniel, our driver and guide who has been at this profession for 25 years. Fantastic attitude, fluent in English and Spanish. HILARIOUS sense of humour. He was keen on keeping us ahead of all the other tour buses so we had a lot of privacy and less crowds. He alone is worth this experience.

Be ready by 6am and prepare for a full day of fun! Breakfast and lunch included. Only one of the places requires a walk of less than 2 km total. It isn't much, just be aware than is in high altitude so the walk back is a little bit more difficult than a normal walk because it has a subtle inclination and every breath counts at 4.000 meters. All stops are worth it!! First you go to a very small town and enjoy breakfast Second place we visited the flamingos and it was good to be one of the first groups to arrive because flamingos were nearby and don't like noises. After we went to piedras Rojas, beautiful place. Then the lakes also beautiful with the mountains behind. Lunch and finally Capricorn tropic sign.

Best trip! This was easily the best excursion we did on our trip. It’s a long day but so worth it. The locations are so cool and the food was delicious. Our tour guide, Daniel, was fabulous! He was funny and knowledgeable. 10/10 we would recommend! Count yourself lucky if you get Daniel.
