I came across Pixel Lab Tokyo online and was instantly hooked by the fact that they offer a Game Boy Advance SP modding workshop, something I hadn't found anywhere else at that time in Tokyo. Since I wanted to bring home a unique souvenir, I signed up right away. On the day of the workshop, Bin picked me up at the agreed meeting point and took me to the workshop. Along the way, he shared some interesting insights into the history of Nintendo's handheld consoles. I was also told that I was the first customer to take on the challenge of modding a GBA SP, as it is a bit more complicated than a Game Boy DMG or a standard GBA. But no need to worry—Pixel Lab has you covered. Before the workshop began, I received an introduction to what to expect and was able to choose my favorite shell and buttons from a huge selection of colors and styles. The entire modification process was explained step by step. Bin demonstrated each stage clearly, and I simply followed along. If you run into any issues, he is always there to help, so you don't need to worry about your technical skills. The workshop took around 3 hours, but the time flew by because it was so much fun. In the end, I walked away with a uniquely designed GBA SP that I had built myself—and it works perfectly. If you'd like, you can also purchase games at reasonable prices. I ended up buying three, including Metroid Fusion. Sweet huh. I really appreciate Bin's expertise and the care he took throughout the entire experience. As a cherry on top, he even offered to repair and clean an old Game Boy Advance that I had brought with me on my travels. A big thank you to Bin and the Pixel Lab Tokyo team for such a memorable experience!

What a great experience! Bin and his wife were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout the entire event. The time flew by, I got so into the process that I completely lost track of time. By the end, I had a custom Game Boy inspired by my hometown team’s colors, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. While it’s definitely a bit of a splurge, it’s absolutely worth it for any Nintendo fan looking for a unique and memorable experience. Highly recommended!

Great time and they were very accommadating! This modding process is sort of difficult but they helped every step of the way to get it to work in the end. They also had plenty of customization options, that made each one feel special! We were able to take our time building and the vibe was very welcoming and friendly! They were hands on with helping, due to the more personal group sizes. You pay for not just a modded game boy advance but also a fun experience, would reccomend!
