You will be guided in the baths, villas, theatres and wrestling ground for about three hours.
This private tour includes the visit to the Villa of the Mysteries.
This wonderful Villa is one of the greatest archeological discoveries of the past century named for the paintings in one room of the residence. This space may have been a triclinium, and is decorated with very fine frescoes. Although the actual subject of the frescoes is hotly debated, the most common interpretation of the images is scenes of the initiation of a woman into a special cult of Dionysus, a mystery cult that required specific rites and rituals to become a member.

5.00Five of us had a great visit to Pompeii with guide Ornella who met us at the train station and already knew our names upon arrival (after I sent her a picture of us). She was very knowledgeable and did a super job of showing us aspects of Pompeii while also steering us away from crowded areas when other buildings illustrated the same things. We got a break in about the middle of the tour and were able to use the restrooms and eat a quick snack. If you go to Pompeii, be sure to buy the plus admission ticket and a guided tour of the Villa of Mysteries. That was a highlight of the visit where the frescoes are amazing. We got recommendations for other places to see when the tour was over. We learned so much from this guided tour of Pompeii and wouldn't have learned so much going on our own or using an audio guide. We highly recommend hiring a guide for this special historic place.
