What To Expect

Your journey begins by exploring the vineyards and the olive grove of a family owned winery with a history that spans over 4 centuries and where you will interact with the owners themselves, the protagonists of all that history, after the visit a wine tasting and regional product pairings will follow with a ton of fun moments like opening a Port wine bottle using fire, the traditional Port wine tongs and other surprises.

5.00What a fantastic tour! We had a wonderful time on this day trip to the Douro Valley and the Vinho Verde region with Andre, our tour guide. Our first stop at a family-run winery in Vinho Verde was a very special experience. We tasted many delicious wines (with a few light food pairings) and got to participate in a couple of fun and unique bottle opening experiences. Lunch was delicious (I loved the duck rice) and the boat tour was lovely (our tour guide did not join us for this, and we were with a few others outside of our group, but it was still great and absolutely stunning scenery). The second winery was not as unique (definitely a place that sees more tourists), but was still very enjoyable. Andre is an absolutely delightful tour guide - he knew so much about the wines and the regions and taught us a lot. He is also fun, kind, and entertaining and really made this tour a very memorable experience. I highly recommend this tour!

5.00This is a great tour to experience the different regions of Portugal, as you visit multiple wineries, enjoy a great lunch at a local restaurant, and take a boat tour to see the incredible scenery. The day was filled with great wine and food. Our guide was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make the day special with wine choices, food pairings, and special surprises. The small group atmosphere allowed for a intimate experience that would not have been the same with larger tour. This was an incredible tour and highly recommend.

5.00Our grapes journey tour was 10/10. Our guide Leo was incredibly overqualified. He has lived many lives as A decorated chef, small brewery owner, Sommelier And a great conversationalist. I attended the tour with my wife and 8 month old daughter. Our group of 8 had one other couple and three solo travelers. The small group setting was wonderful and allowed us to have incredibly informative and intimate tours. First a small yet high quality winery in Douro, than a second larger but still family owned (for hundreds of years) winery in the vino verde region. I do not wish to spoil it, but the second winery in vino verde was my favorite. The proprietor is an incredibly kind and generous gentleman who even had one of his granddaughters helping out with serving. (You may get drunk at this second stop; they are very generous!) It was a marvelous day and was very accommodating to our little one. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who likes wine, and wants to have a once in a lifetime experience. Note: you really do learn a ton about how wine making works in Portugal as well as about port specifically. I later attended a cellar tour in Porto; and already knew it all.

5.00We really love this experienced. Michael our tour guide is so nice and even helping the wineries served and taking pictures. The last vineyard we went was the best. They even give you sample of the wine. First one was also good. We will definitely recommend this tour. It’s worth the money you spent. The lunch alone is so worth it. Delicious food. 5.00Absolutely a must go. The tour was terrific, I can’t say enough about how amazing our guide Andre was. So much knowledge mixed with humor. Just an all round terrific guy who loves his home and the wines of this region. The tour really introduced me to some wines I would normally avoid and I found some ports I really love ( something I thought I hated because I was drinking the wrong types). Just a beautiful day with a nice small group.

5.00Douro Valley is beautiful and this tour with Grape Journeys will get you there in a very personalized way. Andre provided narrative throughout and answered all our questions. His connections with the various stops along the tour seemed like a day out with some friends. The wines and wineries visited were outstanding. Beautiful scenery, well paced. This was a great day!!
