Franz Kafka attended services at the Old-New Synagogue in Prague. Built in Gothic style in the 13th century, the Old-New Synagogue is the oldest building in the Jewish Town and one of Europe’s oldest synagogues still in use. Come along our Prague Jewish Tours and learn all about the former Prague Jewish Ghetto called Josefov.
Most of the area is made up of the Jewish Museum that includes synagogues and a cemetery. Old Town Hall with Astronomical Clock
The Astronomical Clock is one of the main landmarks of Prague. After meeting with our tour guide right under the Clock, you will enter the Jewish Quarter - Josefov.
Josefov
Josefov, the Jewish Quarter in Prague, is one of the most important Jewish sights in the world because it was not destroyed during the second world war. The Jewish Museum comprises an old Jewish cemetery and several synagogues featuring different aspects of the Jewish heritage: traditions, art, history, etc.

She proceeded to guide us through a fascinating tour of the Old Jewish Quarter, while providing excellent historical context. We highly recommend her to anyone seeking an in-depth experience, while retaining the highly emotional nature of such a visit.

4.00There were just 2 of us on this tour, my wife and myself. The guide was very knowledgable. The synagogues were beautiful and the Jewish cemetery was interesting. The walls of one of the synagogues were covered with the names of all of the Czech victims of the holocaust which really brings to life the enormity and sheer horror of what happened, and the displays of pictures drawn by children in the concentration camps were rightly disturbing. But it cost £166 for two people, and then I had to pay extra for our tickets into the synagogues, only to discover later on the tour that 2 of them are currently closed for renovation, so to be honest, there are much cheaper alternatives in Prague.
