• Trip to Preveli palm beach and Damnoni beach

  Booked this trip for me and my mum in the last few days of our holiday and can honestly say it’s one of the best trips we’ve ever been on. Panos and Lazarus were our bus driver and tour guide and were both amazing. Panos was always smiling and greeting us whenever we got on or off the coach and also gave out some nice little sweets along the journey. Lazarus is such an amazing guy with so much knowledge about everything related to the tour and much more. He answered all our questions and even taught us about some of the plants we came across which we wouldn’t have even realised what they were otherwise. Aside from his knowledge he’s got good banter and is just such a nice guy. Our trip started with a 45 minute to an hour journey to get to a boat that would take us to Preveli palm beach. The boat only takes about 10 minutes. The journey times are well worth it once you get to the beach because it’s absolutely stunning. The little trail into the palm trees is very pleasant and nothing too strenuous. On the beach itself there was a little cafe that sold some food and drinks. Whilst on the beach we saw some goats and some geese which the cafe workers were feeding. The next beach is Damnoni beach which is also a stunning beach. They have a nice little cafe there that does really good pizzas. After Damnoni, you visit one more beach which is quite big and also has a lot more places to eat if you’re looking for a big lunch and also has lots of shops around. On the way back home we stopped off to take some pictures of the gorge and tried to spot some vultures.   Arrived at the ‘wrong’ parking first. Turns out palm beach was the other side of the mountain. You can go there on foot over the mountain, but we took the car and drove around. This car park is mega high, so a huge descent along stone steps awaits you. Once descended beautiful view over the lagoon and palm tree forest. Very nice beach with bar, no sun loungers! Boulders in the water. Walking you can take through the forest, also in the lagoon very nice pictures. Cold water though!   Excellent day ! My husband and I really liked it. The palm grove is superb. The bus driver was great. As for our guide, Anastasia, she was wonderful, attentive to each member of her group, she switched from English to German and French with incredible ease.   Had a fantastic day trip with Markidis from Aquilla Hotel in Rethymno on 12th September to Spili and Preveli Beach. We can honestly say that it was one of the best day trips whilst on holiday abroad we have had over all the years we have holidayed abroad (29 years) Costa was a brilliant driver who negotiated tricky traffic well and was a very safe driver. Anastasia, the guide was also excellent and was very knowledgeable and polite. They worked very well together and made a great team. The day itself was brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed the beach, boat trip and village and the views were outstanding. Thank you for a great day, and we would recommend this trip especially if Costa and Anastasia are driver and Guide. Thanks. 😊

  This was a fabulous day out. Our tour guide Anastasia was fantastic, really friendly and informative, and made me feel really included in the group as a solo traveller. I only wish I could go on further tours with her as a guide! This tour included an hour in Spili, a beautiful mountain village, then time in Preveli beach which is truly the most beautiful beach I have ever seen, followed finally by time in Damnoni beach. There was plenty of time to enjoy each place and I never felt like I needed to rush anything. I would highly recommend this tour, including to other solo travellers. Note that for 2023 the tour no longer includes the monastery.
