BREAKFAST
Breakfast
Today, you will first appreciate Andasibe’s biodiversity at the Analamazaotra National Park, which stars the largest lemur Indri Indri, known for their loud wails that can be heard more than one mile away. Spending most of time living high up on trees, Indris are now critically endangered mainly due to the clearing of their natural habitat for agriculture, which is why both these critters and the area are so valued. If you spot a fur ball lolling on a branch, that’d be a woolly lemur!
Vakona Private Reserve
After lunch, move your steps to Vakona Reserve (Lemurs Island), a private land where lemurs are mostly fed as it is too small to provide enough food. Lemurs here are so used to humans that you can get up close and personal with them, as well as capture their adorable moments meanwhile.
Afterwards, pay a visit to a local village and market to experience Malagasy daily life. In Andasibe Marketplace, you will be overwhelmed by various stalls selling food, clothes and groceries, and see if you can discover something novel!

A fantastic two weeks in Madagascar, organised by Emily. The hotels exceeded our expectations ( we went 3* , but many were way higher), food was great. We had just a driver, not a guide and driver, but as we got local guides in all the national parks that was fine. We had a party of three vegetarians and one vegan so after some initial discussions our driver called ahead to all our stops to make sure our diets were accommodated. The wild life was amazing, the journeys very long, but we knew that would be beforehand. We had plenty of breaks and the days were well organised so we had places to visit to break the journeys up. The visit to the local village and the long walk in Isalo national park were highlights. The guides on these two trips were excellent aswell. Even though we took mosquitoe protection none of us got any bites.

We thoroughly enjoyed our private tour. Communication with Emily at Agate tours was very good. She answered our questions promptly and clearly. Our guide/driver John was excellent! His English fluency and extensive experience made our tour seamless. The accommodation, park guides and community visit he arranged were amazing. I would not hesitate to recommend Agate Tours. However, be aware that the company is based in China and this does complicate making the tour payment.

I was very pleased with the recent Madagascar tour organised by Agate travels. They were very helpful, transparent, accommodating and the itinerary was well planned. The local driver/guide Falantine was superb. I would happily recommend Agate travels and would without hesitation use their services for future trips.

What an adventure we had. We had a private tour to explore the country, people, and natural habitats. Lemurs, villages, hikes, limestone mountains, lodge in stones, chameleons, rivers and weekly markets. Our guides couldn’t wait to show us their country. We saw it all. This was a trip to celebrate my 75th birthday. We have traced the world and this was very special for me. Not a trip or experience like it. As our guide said…this was an adventure.

A pleasure to deal with Emily Xin from Agate Travel Loved the clear and numbered communications which always occurred the same day Which meant the tour from arrival to departure worked like clockwork Good value accommodation Excellent transport Excellent driver / guide Loved the nature But the roads are narrow, sealed but while a 2 lane road invariably only sealed for one vehicle
