While my friends opted for a relaxing spa day, I was eager to experience more of what Morocco had to offer—and I’m so glad I did. I had originally tried to book the group tour of the Atlas Mountains and Five Valleys, but as it was fully booked, I decided to take the leap and book a private tour instead. As a solo female traveller, I was initially a little hesitant, but I truly had nothing to worry about. From the start, all communication was quick, smooth, and reassuring. My guide, Sofyan, was exceptional—professional, friendly, and great fun to spend the day with. He tailored the experience to suit me perfectly, answered all my (many!) questions with enthusiasm, and made sure I felt safe and comfortable at all times. One of the biggest perks of the private tour was the flexibility—I could stop whenever I wanted to take photos, and nothing ever felt rushed or like too much trouble. We began the day with a delicious traditional breakfast at an argan oil cooperative, where local women served Moroccan bread with accompaniments and fresh green tea. From there, we stopped for coffee by the Ourika River before continuing through the valleys. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking—snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, and perfect weather made it even more magical. A visit to a Berber village was a real highlight. I chose a medium-level hike, which was just right—a 45-minute walk through two villages while learning about the traditional Berber way of life from a knowledgeable local guide. It was both fascinating and enriching. At the end of the hike, I was warmly welcomed by a Berber family who hosted me for a three-course Moroccan meal on their rooftop terrace. The panoramic views were stunning, and the hospitality was unforgettable. As a solo traveller, I felt completely at ease and genuinely cared for. The journey back through the mountains offered even more incredible views, rounding off what was truly an amazing day from start to finish. This is an experience I will always remember fondly, and I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and did it alone. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough—especially for solo travellers looking for something special.

I don’t leave reviews often. We had an awesome day, this tour is well worth it. We learned more about Morocco from our guide Abdullah than we learned during the rest of trip. The lunch in the Berber house was truly memorable, overlooking the highest peak in North Africa. You also go for walk with a local villager who shares details of life in the mountain village. If you want to see the real Morocco and learn a lot, see breathtaking scenery, this trip is for you.

A fantastic day from start to finish. From the moment we entered the car we were given information on the days events and plan. The driver Abdullah has a massive store of knowledge on all aspects of the trip but also some great insights into Moroccan traditions and how didn’t regions differ. All and all a pleasure to deal with. Could not recommend enough.

My family of 5 people, the youngest one 9 years old, had an amazing time on this tour. Everything from the Argan Oil Co-op, to tea/coffee by the river, to a peaceful hike, to a private lunch in the terrace of a Berber family made the experience unique and worthwhile. Sofyan, our main guide and driver, was knowledgeable and friendly. Abdou our hiking guide was also very friendly and patient, giving us several options for difficulty and taking us on a brief tour of a local farm house with animals. The family who prepared our delicious couscous and tagine were a delight. I highly recommend spending the extra money for this private tour if you can afford it. The personal touch really made a difference at every stage. We never felt rushed or treated like a commodity. Highly recommend!

First - Mohamad was a first class guide. He was friendly, funny and very knowledgeable. He made the tour - which was quite long 8 hours - extremely interesting throughout. We had a lovely group - just 6 which was perfect. Then secondly, the Atlas Mountains were breathtaking and such lovely views. Then finally visiting and learning about Berber villages and families was fascinating and very special. They made us very welcome and the food was delicious. Thoroughly recommend this tour with Mohamad.

Interesting tour up into the mountains. Unfortunately a little cloudy so couldn’t see the tops but nice to get out of Marrakech. Abdullah was a good guide and informative. It was nice to meet some local people and we had a very good lunch in a family home. Abdullah was willing to stop for some photos.

Fantastic day, met very promptly by Ismail and from then on he carried us through a seamless day of travel, knowledge, humour and kindness. We met local Berber women and families, enjoyed home cooked, local food with incredible views. Everyone we met was warm, welcoming with heartfelt kindness. Would recommend wholeheartedly. An unforgettable experience.

The most wonderful experience making memories to last a lifetime. The views and experiences were second to none, but it was the people who made it. Ishmail our guide for the day, and Yassine our guide trekking through the Berber villages. To eat at a family home in one of the villages was very special and huge compliments to the chef Khadija. 100% would recommend this to anyone I know coming to Marrakech.
