Peter was our guide & was excellent, he kept the group engaged for the full hour and a half, delivering the right amount of information about historic events and delivering it with wit in the right places. Detailing notorious Birmingham gang shoot outs, to the unknown secrets of New Street Station and what ghost lurks the platforms… There were some mentions too of Birmingham’s links to famous faces such as Charles Dickens, to how Birmingham provided inspiration for the Sherlock Holmes books. As the tour is the Gallows and Ghosts Halloween tour, the subject does touch on public hangings, but it really isn’t particularly graphic or gruesome, but more historic. The period covered spans mainly between the early 19th Century to the early 20th century. We were part of small group of about 15 people, so the guide could speak to us closely and with ease. Great for if you’re interested in ‘dark tourism’ and the history of crime & punishment, with a few ghost tales added in. We went on the first weekend of November and the Birmingham Christmas market had started; it was very pretty seeing the lights. The tour met at Birmingham Snow Hill Station, and we finished outside the Symphony Hall. Even if you think you know Birmingham’s history well, you’re sure to learn something extra on this tour. I went with a work colleague (and we ourselves are tour guides in the dark tourism sector) and recommend this tour. We both really enjoyed our evening out and it inspired us to learn more about Birmingham’s dark history/ go on other Walking Tour Events.

Very knowledgeable guide. Plenty of interesting facts in a friendly, informative tour. Not too strenuous for older people.

As a family of three, we did the later Halloween Gallows and Ghosts tour of Birmingham. We had a lot of fun hearing about all of the stories and seeing the sites of gangs, criminals and deaths around the city centre. I'm local, and a lot of this was even new to me. Hannah the guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. So all-in-all we had a great time, and I would definitely recommend.

Highly recommend this tour. Peter our guide was great: the perfect mix of knowledge and humour. Despite having lived in Birmingham my whole life, I learnt so much on this tour and really enjoyed seeing the beautiful city by night.
